Im only going on wat people have said to me and im beginning not to care. its common knowledge you are not supposed to listen to wat people say. its gonna be my back-up whether you like it or not bouncyB!!

Napier does not have a good reputation at all. It varies for courses, but none of the subjects are rated excellent at all. If you want to study in Edinburgh, then Unis are rated as follows;

1.Edinburgh Uni - The best by far in Edinburgh
2.Heriot-Watt Uni - This is also a good uni for a lot of subjects and very friendly campus
3. Queen Margaret University - Good uni for healthcare, but for anything else it is pretty crap, not a great uni to go to either.
4.Napier - well this place is really just a polytechnic, vocational courses but i wouldn't call it a uni????

Actually you'll find that QMUC is world reowned for its drama faculty. Drama and health are excellent at QMUC, but i have never heard anyone say to me at uni (and i stayed in halls last year with lots of people on different courses!) that they didn't like their course! I must admit Napier hasn't got the best reputation, Edinburgh is a very big campus, but if you like that then thats fine, smaller groups are found at Heriot Watt and QMUC..personally i rank QMUC above HW!

Heriot-Watt is way better than QMUC! Lol are you joking? QMUC and Napier don't have the best reputation, ask a few people and you'll find that lol.

I expect it depends on the course your doing, but i think QMUC social life is better than Napier, or Heriott Watt's....The snow ball, and sports ball, quiz nights, rock nights, DJ nights, themed nights.

I know this thread is ancient, but I just have to say that anyone calling Napier crap is actually being very unfair.

Napier is actually a good university, however unlike Edinburgh/Heriot Watt they take on many mature students (alot of the time without many qualifications) and also give places to people that while likely to drop out after/during 1st year just to give them a chance at higher education. For this reason drawing an apples to apples comparison between Napier and the other Edinburgh universities isn't fair.

Napier are also a very young university (1992) but that doesn't mean it's all bad. The computing department at Napier University is the largest of any university in Scotland, and I was informed that a CS lechurer from Edinburgh recently defected to Napier. Journalism is another of Napier's strengths.

Napier is a lot better than Queen Margaret - I say this as an outsider, with opinions from friends that go to both.

No way! QM is definitely better.
Though I always say not to base decisions on league tables, QM is invariably much higher than Napier. Those friends of mine at QM that I know the exam results of got at least 3 As in their highers or 2 As in their A Levels, compared to my friend (who got one C in 5th year) getting a conditional offer from Napier of CCC (for business which I believe is one of Napier's top courses?)
QM does weird courses, but it's one of the best at what it does :cool:

(though Kirsty obviously wasn't at the Snow Ball if she thinks it was all that - Big Brother people? Yawn!!)

nope, i wasn't at this years snow ball...but i went to one in first year, was good!

I wouldn't say napier was rubbish, but i don't believe it is as good as some of the other unis in edinburgh.
