I thought 'chav' was a derogatory term?
    Isn't that offensive.....to some people?
    Just curious!
Read through the pages...someone found it offensive and started being offensive back...definitely a chav! :p:

I don't consider it offensive, and I don't actually thinks chavs mind being called it. I think they quite like it because they're now recognised as a group of people. Like goths I suppose.

A Chav told me I was merked (well thats what it sounds like).

I think it means we're gonna beat/shout-abuse if we see you.

    Charming :p:

P.s. If anyone knows for sure it would be interesting to find out!

I didn't expect my thread to start this much of a debate / argument.

I don't really feel like I'm lowering myself by having this theme - it's a different theme that I think many people will enjoy dressing up as.

Some parties have themes such as Hippies - does that mean that hippies would immediately take offence? I think not.

And to those who say some of the words are words that other people aside from chav use, yes they are - that doesn't make you a chav, they're just words that chavs might say too.

    Or slang in general...
‘Hippie’ is not a particularly derogatory term, whereas calling someone a 'Chav' is.
Label all you like but a person is still a person; regardless.

I don't think many chavs get offended when they are called chav, though. It's like goths...are they offended to be called goths?

    Who knows!

People should just stop whining and accept that people are going to get picked on forever for some kind of reason!

    'nang' = cool
    'datz sic man'
    'wahgwan/wah gowan'
    'reppin' '
    'aiight'
    'yo, bredda/bredrin'

However, in my opinion, we should not use these words...i believe that by using these, our society is slowly accepting the 'chav/gang' concept.
    What do you think?
