    Hello everyone,
my parents are fed up with the high costs of our Internet package and especially with my brothers playing games that use lots of bandwith. So they asked our internet provider to give them a list of all the websites visited by the family. However, I go on TSR health and relationship and though I do not go on porn sites or sex,drug-related websites, I do go on websites about love, relationships etc. I am so scared they will find out and confront me with this. I siblings use websites in our language, so it will be obvious I am the one who went on these websites.
God, can they find out? I am so scared!
What can I do? I am now using my own internet (well I have started today).

I'm sure your parents will appreciate you being curious regarding relationships and love, everyone is! It could be a lot worse. Just relax and try and forget about it, you've done absolutely nothing wrong. I'm assuming you're from another culture, I don't know if this will impact on how they feel about it but I can't see why they would be angry with you.

If they do bring it up with you (which I doubt) just be honest about what you looked at and why. Just chill. Good luck

I think we all expect our parents to be much more heavy handed than they actually are. But if this is the case and they do overreact, there is nothing you can do but explain to them truthfully why you've done it and HOPE they understand. I know exqctly what it's like to be terrified of your parents discovering something and going crazy, but in my experience I have always been slightly underwhelmed with their reactions...

Remember, you've done nothing wrong, and your parents love you.

use CCleaner to delete your history. I do this on every log off.
If they knew your password for your pc they could find the history on there. Deleteing it after every log off deletes this information.

I doubt your ISP (who provides your net btw) will give your family that information but if your super paranoid use TOR. It uses proxy servers to get mask your location.
No real point for your situation its normally for people trying to get the internet in China etc where it is heavily restricted.
    It is very slow.

Anonymous knows his or her parents a lot better than anyone else does so if he or she thinks that they will react badly - well - you know some people do have parents that are not emotionally stable or able to handle to basic things - like anyone else parents can be dysfunctional.

I would doubt though that the internet service provider would comply with a request form someone to access their web history because they probably don't have those files stored in a way easy for people on the customer service end to access.

hopefully, they won't find out though!!!! I have been away lots these past few weeks to deal with all the uni-related work. They might think it was just an excuse and I will lose credibility.

Why don't you get talktalk or other broadband networks with unlimited downloads?

TOR would stop any third parties or website you're interacting with from seeing your IP address but would it actually stop your ISP from seeing what information you were sending through the TOR network? Your information still has to go through your ISP before it gets into the TOR network.

I do not know how this works I am just asking...TOR might be encrypted within your computer thus giving the ISP only an encrypted stream too.

tbh mate, it would take a lot of space to store everyones history, if you think how many people share the broadband with your ISP.

When you sign up you will be told you have a contention ratio of 50:1 this means your ISP broadband bandwidth is being shared by 50 people. You can still surf fine etc its just if people start to download tons your internet will slow down as well.

I would think they only 'log' specific things like if you would try and access child porn or if attacks or spam was coming from your IP address/

I don't understand, what do you mean by your "reputation"??

I also doubt the ISP would record such information, anyway.
