Overcoming shyness

I started a new school this year and am quite shy until I get to know people pretty well. I get on really well with the girls in my year but have trouble talking to the boys. I would like to be able to get to know them better and would just like some advice on how to go about starting a conversation with them easily.

^ I'm curious too. I'm a female and I have absolutely no problem talking to boys (not in a flirty way) but am very suspicious talking to girls, hmmm..

I agree with Samsara, the three main people I hang out with at sixth form are all boys and I tend to get on with them and have a laugh which I find hard to do with girls.
