Boiling water tastes better...lol. Sorry dude I've never been to the UK so I'm just asking. In our country we usually boil it. Just to be extra safe i guess. haha. so anyway the halls water supply is supposed to be clean right? Any comments?

er, yeah. All water coming from all taps is drinkable...and in some places is really nice like mineral water. In London it's not the same water as say the Lake District, but is still safe. Even toilet water and bath water is nominally consumable, though I don't quite think any one would take up an offer.

That suprises me for Malaysia, I thought it was fairly advanced.

I think London water is supposed to be better for you than elsewhere because it's so hard, which is definitely a plus, even if it is an acquired taste.
My med student friend told me its good to drink London tap water because its hard (rich in Calcium or something?) but I just look at the milky water and I can't bear to drink it lol. Like people say, its an acquired taste I suppose.

I just drink bottled mineral water for everything, hence I have loads of those 2 litre Evian mineral water bottles lying around. The water tastes like the water my home, Hong Kong which is nice (even though the tap water at home has no minerals whatsoever)

BTW, I boil water even if its drinkable (in HK or the UK), just for safety's sake I suppose....

...somebody mentioned toilet water was conusumable....uhh, seriously? :p:

London water milky? Maybe if it's hot... Apart from that it's just like that expensive bottled stuff.
yea...boiling water is good for health. and yes hard water is due to calcium and magnesium ions. Lol i don't think whether Malaysia is advanced or not has anything to do with boiling water. So anyway i assume that it is ok for me to boil water in my room?

You would need your own kettle, but I think the plugs are different there.

Er yes it does since if it is as developed as I assumed it to be it would have the necessary resources to ensure its tap water is safe, with the necessary purification plants etc. In our house (built 1694) the toilet water comes from the mains, which is where our tap water comes from too. It's the same for all modern houses too (our water system wasnt built in 1694 btw!).

There really would be litle point in boiling water all the time. (a) It's unnecessary and (b) your waisting three minutes of your life that could be better spent working hard or partying hard.
Solved! I'm living on bottled water! YEA!!!

You're crazy, all of you. I hope you're absolutely loaded with all these plans about bottled water. The tap water is fine everywhere in the UK, it doesn't need boiling, but you can taste the 'hardness' in London water which is an acquired taste.

If anyone has any questions on High Holborn, feel free to PM me.

At 75p for a 2l bottle of Evian Mineral Water, it's not that expensive to live off bottled water. (In fact its probably the only cheap thing in London...) It's cheap enough that its worth using for cooking as well as drinking, thus rendering tap water only useful for washing hands.

It's largely the taste that makes me stick with bottle stuff. :p:
What are the prices of other brands of mineral water in London?

And a single vodka with mixer is £1 on a Monday at cheapskates. I know which I'd rather have. You're planning to COOK with mineral water?! you have to be having me on. This is insane, and totally unnecessary. Don't you have better things to buy with your money?
