Talk to your opticians about it? That would be the best option as buying online wouldn't be as safe and you could end up buying ones that are too strong or weak. I'm sure you will be allowed contact lenses unless you have a serious health issue that would stop you from being able to wear them.

i have an appointment on tuesday, but i am unsure if i am able to get them considering i dont need glasses all the time

Ohh are you one of the people who only need to wear reading glasses? Just to note, apparently you're only able to wear contact lenses for up to 8 hours a day for health reasons. If you don't need glasses all the time, I would just stick to glasses as it would be cheaper (you have to buy new contacts every month I think). Plus I luvvv glasses

ah ok, thanks, i will see what they say

What's with the anonymous? Wearing glasses is hardly a personal problem. I'm pretty sure everyone I've ever met has figured out I wear glasses.

If you don't need glasses all the time, chances are you don't need them and as such can't get them. You're lucky that you aren't that blind unlike some!

WHY WHY WHY WHY WHY does a thread about contact lenses need to be anonymous? For god's sake, I know this is the H&R subforum but that is just abuse of the function.

If you don't need glasses all the time, you don't need contacts.

It's people like you abusing the annonymous feature that are going to get it removed.

I've been wearing glasses for years now for watching tv etc. but since coming to uni I don't like wearing them as I feel self conscious. I want to try contact lenses also, just wondering would I be best going for Daily disposables or monthly ones?
Plus I'm quite squemish, is it uncomfortable putting them in?
Sorry

Exactly. The anon feature is a really good thing for people who need to post about embarrassing or personal issues, particularly if people they know use TSR. But if people use it to post things like, "Can I get contact lenses?" and "I've hurt my foot, what shall I do?" then it will get taken away.

Use one hand to pull back your top eyelid and the other hand to pull down the lower lid, then slide it in with the same hand as your pulling your lower lid down with.

I was just about to say something about her/him posting as anon. Grr! Get's my goat up.

I've made a complain about it in the About forum. Post there to show your support!

I couldnt have them because I couldnt put them in. grr. apparently my eyelashes are too long

Reply 14

Well, considering that you pull up your eyelashes (sort of, one hand is actually holding up your eyelashes) before your other hand puts on the lens.... =)

I have short eyelashes and even my short eyelashes get in the way if I don't hold them up when putting on the lens.
