No I'm not. In my experience, guys would just do anything to get their hands on images of fit girls - whether in paper form or on the computer screen.

Just because you have experienced it, does not mean it is representative of the whole male population. Unless of course you have known enough men to do it for it to be representative of the worlds male population which I highly doubt.

I have read a copy of Nuts before and it painted women as being a bunch of sex obsessed, cum hungry sluts.

Are woman not? :frown::frown::frown: dammmmittt!

Well it goes some way to explain the state of this country I guess...

Oh wow. I never really had a problem with lads mags before but this is just worrying...:s-smilie:

Personally, I cannot tell. How am I supposed to know what a rapist would say in an interview? I would like to think that the similarities between them are due to the fact that the rapists have read those kind of magazines at some point in their lives, which to them perhaps justified their actions, and that the problem does not lie in some of us being ignorant.
Don't forget everyone, women are saints and we must treat their word like gospel.

It's so stupid. It simply doesn't take into account the difference in meaning when a rapist says something and a normal person says something (agrees/doesn't agree with it).

A psychotic murderer might say "I could kill my teacher for suspending me", and actually feel it and do it. A student might say the same thing, but simply expressing their anger in a dramatic way. That doesn't mean anyone who says it identifies with psychotic murderers, or are conditioned to think psychotic murderers are alright, or anything like that.

YOU DO! You're a man. Every man has "read" a porn magazine.

A few days ago you posted a thread on Chat announcing your return. In that thread you said that you weren't out to offend anyone or create arguments. I read a thread a couple of days ago where you did both those things in one go, and none there's this.

You managed to last a whole day without causing disruptions. Congratulations.

And no, not every man has "read" a porn mag. I've read Zoo and Nuts, but those don't count as porn mags (softcore, yeah, but that's not what they're collectively known as).
I thought the quotes were pretty easy to tell apart on the whole. Comments along the lines of "punishing" the woman was a rapist, comments that implied the woman might enjoy it (correctly or not) was a lad mag...

Then proceed to tear certain pages of it, laminate it, and take it with you wherever you go.

I'm not an idiot, I have seen males with their precious "laminates".

Ok what.

By "read" I meant jacking off to it and spewing semen all over it, whilst wiping it away with a tissue and throwing it in the bin, then repeat for round two.

Then proceed to tear certain pages of it, laminate it, and take it with you wherever you go.

I'm not an idiot, I have seen males with their precious "laminates".

All men has seen a naked girl and jacked off to it.

Woah, what the hell? What is wrong with you?

Anyone reading a lad's mag know the comments are tongue in cheek. Obviously taken out of context, it will be hard to identify them.

Na it's the people like you who accept a newspaper article, designed to cause controversy, at face value, and don't use their own intelligence to question.

I hate the way the press can stir up trouble over nothing with some out of context quotes, some 'artistic license' etc and people lap it up.

What do you mean what's wrong with me? I'm not the one doing it.

I didn't accept the newspaper article. The very fact that this was even researched piqued my interest.

You carry on assuming everyone is beneath you, I'm sure it gives you a brilliant world view.

Quite the opposite. My point is, people are lapping this up as if its fact- lads are worse than rapists.

If you meant the article is a load of ****e fair enough I apologise. I thought you were taking the view, that this lad culture is everything that is wrong with the world.

If I jumped the gun, I'm sorry. I'm just fed up the way the media can dictate public opinion, even down to the smallest matters. Case in point the Jeremey Clakrson 'scandal'. I don't agree with what he said, but there were few complaints to start with, the press got hold if it and spun it around into some sort of big deal, and 20,000 complaints followed.

Again sorry if I misunderstood you. ( If I didn't, then discard all of this haha)

I got them all right. It's pretty obvious which ones are the lads' mag quotes, as they are written by men who think they know exactly what women want and that they know how to fulfil their fantasies.

I highly doubt the sort of "lads" buying these magazines are paying much attention to the articles anyway.
I think there is a valid point here about the attitudes to women that some lad mags (or at least some of their features) promote. It's not alone of course, as there are some fairly bad attitudes towards women promoted in some music and culture.
