When do University of Sussex / Brighton send out their decisions ?

I know that every university is different and that the deadline for any decision from any university is months away... but I was wondering how long, on average, the Brighton and Sussex universities take to reach a decision ?

Two of my friends are at Brighton and they each received offers about two months after sending their applications. Is this the norm ?

I'm only asking because so far I have received one offer [which of course I'm over the moon about] but am anxious to hear back from the others. I hate the waiting game.

If you have any idea then please let me know. Thank you !

It will really depend on many factors including the individual department. Some departments might send offers out quickly; others might wait until after the deadline and some may leave it right up until May to decide. The point is that they will make an offer, if they are going to make you an offer, when they do and one can't really speculate as to when you may get an offer.

I think we need a forum wide sticky, saying simply,

'The time taken differs with university, department, year, student, students grades. Individuals giving answers based on their own experience is less than helpful and will just make you worry more'

anyone agree?

The problem is that this forum already has a lot of stickies already and the alternative solution of a forum announcement creates more congestion when some areas of this forum have many stickies. That said, I will direct mods in this area to this suggestion to see what they think.

Hehe thanks, i wasn't actually expecting a reply, but it just seems like a 'when do offers go out' post accounts for ten% of all threads around this time

I got an offer within a week and a half of applying to Sussex, so yeah, I think it depends on departments.
What are you applying for?

Okay, thanks guys... I know that of course it varies from individual to individual, I just wondered if there was a kind 'usual' amount of time I should expect to be waiting. I wasn't looking for a definite time span, was just curious as to whether anyone knew of a rough deadline... didn't mean to 'spam' the forum so sorry if that's not what its for.

I've applied to Anthropology and International Relations at Sussex; there are people on my course now that haven't heard from them yet either and they've applied to quite a diverse selection of courses so I assume it's the same for most people right now.
How about you ? And nice work on the offer

I was wondering the same thing, specifically for media studies/production or content creation.

Hi @Benny Yuchetel

In general, the admissions team aim to respond to new applications within 2-3 weeks. If you have applied for a course that requires a portfolio, then the admissions team usually require another 2-3 weeks once your portfolio has been submitted to reviews this and move forward with a decision on your application.

You are welcome to contact your admissions officer directly through your Studentview account messages area if you have any questions regarding your application.

I hope this is helpful. 😊
