tracy emin to become a professor! is this a joke?

tracy emin has just been apointed as professor of drawing at the royal academy.

now, before i go any further is would just like to show people some of tracy emins 'drawings'...................

now, i am sorry but people work very hard and pay a lot of money to get into the royal academy of art school and when they get there they expect to be taught by proper professionals who are actually masters of their trade.

if people want to enjoy modern art then they should do it on their own they should not expect students to have to take lessons from this 'modern artist' because like most modern artists she is rubbish at art.

EDIT:

it gets even more depressing. tracy emin is not the only modern 'artist' who has been given a professorship. here is the work of the new professor of painting:

professor of scultpure:

so, looks like the royal academy, after centuries of excellence, has been handed over to college art drop outs.

Speaking for what I would certainly consider the majority of the art community (read: persons who have a substantial grasp at the very least on the basic disciplines), I can say that I cannot stand that woman. Her personality, her work, her ideology concerning art and expression, and most recently after reading about this news, her arrogance in thinking she deserves such a post.

I do like her tits, mind. They're quite good.

I actually did enjoy one of her drawings she did; a self portrait in a mirror I believe it was. Alas, when you've seen hundreds of her drawings and only like a single one, you begin to think it was sheer odds which brought about an appealing piece.

This sort of thing is what is wrong with the 'art' world today.

I could draw that. And I'm ****ing **** at art. When that can be said it ceases to be 'impressionist', 'modern' or 'eclectic' and becomes ****.

She's a Tory.

I'm not making that up, she's a Tory supporter.

I think it's great that they're promoting 5 year old artists to the forefront of teaching, even if they do seem to have a vocabulary far too foul for their years.

Maybe someone can impale her and call it art :colonhash:

These are her 'personal drawings'

Nothing about how good she is as an artist. Or how good she is at 'drawing'. Heck, they even show she is pretty good at it.

Thus, they hired her because she is clearly influential, good at drawing and well.. why else would you higher someone?

I'm not even sure why the hell this and the rest of her rubbish is classified as art, perhaps i'm not "open-minded" enough...

The RCA pays the fees of all it's students.

and when they get there they expect to be taught by proper professionals who are actually masters of their trade.
They expect to be taught by people working at the top of their field or discipline. Tracey Emin is at the top of her discipline (fine art). I wouldn't describe fine art as a 'trade' either...

If you take a fine art drawing course or other fine art course at the RCA, students are expected to be working within that discipline as it stands today, not producing irrelevant, but pretty looking rubbish. You may not like contemporary art, but it is what it is.

Also I was wrong about the fees being paid for, having actually just looked it up.

Yes, right, I spit on the ground, it becomes a modern art. See, it was a rhyme—now pay me a dime (because I am a poet).

Taken from Wikipedia:

"In 1999, she was a Turner Prize nominee and exhibited My Bed an installation, consisting of her own unmade dirty bed with used condoms and blood-stained underwear."

She was a nominee for having nothing more than a dirty bedroom. Where's my ****ing nomination? :colone:
I probably didn't get one because I like to throw used condoms in the bin as opposed to leaving them on the floor
