internet stalker

This may sound odd, but has anyone had an internet stalker before? When I was 15 I used to use a blogging site where I shared quite a lot of personal stuff and I ended up getting spammed by someone who lied about their identity. They told me they wanted to murder me and scary crap like that. I had to leave the site in the end because it became unbearable...they got hold of my name on yahoo and sent me literally hundreds of threatening IMs each days, it was relentless.

Anyway yeah, 3 years later I'm now using a site where you share photos and stuff and meet new people, and someone else seems to be stalking me on there! This isn't really a problem since I don't take it seriously and I don't give out personal details, but I'm just curious...does this sort of stuff happen to anyone else on here or is just me?! I think I choose the wrong kind of sites to frequent. :p:

'they got hold of my name on yahoo' - how'd they manage that then?? I just wouldn't give out ANY info personal or otherwise on the internet- there's too much risk....

I gave it out way too readily...I was 15 and I believe that the person who 'stalked' me was trying to groom me. It was very creepy. It's not a good idea to give out personal information on the internet, you're right, people can't be trusted.

Its your own fault. They can only find you if you allow them to and give them crucial, personal information. Perhaps change your Yahoo address and what else he is on and don't repeat the same mistake?

Or block him!
I didn't have so much of a stalker than a woman who pretended to be my age. I even fell in love with her... Screwed me up pretty bad when I realised. It gets worse but I'll leave it at that.

Can't say anything like this has ever happened to me..

Sounds kind of lame that people would actually go to such lengths to make you upset, damn weirdos.
there are some freaks out there, seriusly are
yeah, some guy added me to MSN and was seriously creepy, trying to get me to dump my boyfriend and go to his uni in september for "fun", then he told me that he was self-harming because i wouldn't declare my love for him  completely and utter weirdo. blocked him pretty quickly when he started getting disgustingly graphic.

Nobody should ever wish for a stalker! You really don't mean that.

The trouble is that I really feel sorry for that kind of person. Just knowing how upset they must be, makes me want to help them. That's how I ended up still talking to this woman who had lied to me about her age. In a way, I ended up taking a lot of her problems onto me. I find it hard just to think "that person is a weirdo so I don't need to deal with them". Unfortunately weirdoes have feelings as much as anyone else. Maybe it's because I'm a bit weird myself that I can feel sympathy for them.

Don't say that. That is stupid and unconstructive and dangerous and in my opinion says something about your personality. Never give any1 info about yourself personal or otherwise. Just go through life alone and you will end up miserable but safe and unhurt. My true feelings.

I don't mean this to sound rude, but what did you expect to happen? If you make personal info and photos of yourself available to billions of people online, of course some of them will take advantage. I think that spamming and threatening you is a horrible thing for them to do, but can you really blame them?

I once had this guy who randomly popped up on my MSN account and just started harrassing me with nonsense. I blocked him, but I then forgot about it and removed all my blockings - and he started at it again two years later posting on my MSN space thingy. Weird people on the internet.
I used to have this girl from Canada () on my MSN... One of my mates had talked to her in a chatroom and added her to MSN. Anyway.. I was in a convo with a few people once and she was in there too, so she added me to her MSN. I didn't think anything of it.

So... now she has my addy, she e-mailed me almost every day saying what she has been upto and whatnot, her plans, thoughts, feelings and emotions and whatnot. I don't reply to most e-mails so I didn't reply to hers... Right, so I'm on MSN after maybe about 15 or so e-mails and she is on, and starts ranting at me for not replying, accusing me of finding a girl and cheating on her or some isht... 'twas weird I tell ya, for real.

Why I just typed all that out I will never know...
