How'd you find out? Are you able to find out who your flatmates are at Parsons Field?

I just got an email out of the blue from Cuth's with my roommate's name, email address and mobile number. I imagine they would tell you who your flatmates were if you got through to them on the phone.

Ooh exiting! I am really curious to see how the form worked out...
And I totally forgot to fill out that I'm an aspiring gamer, so that'll be interesting for my potential bookworm museumgoing roommate.

Edit: ooh also, I wonder how being international makes a difference. Would my roommate be international as well? And if not, do I get to claim a bed first, for being there sooner? =P

The castle form was pathetic, so I have no idea whether I'm going to get on with my roommate or not! I'm a bit nervous, she seems nice from facebook, but I don't know whether we'll have anything in common at all!
I'm pretty sure that all roommates are assigned by buzzwords that are mentioned and so on. They don't do a deep-rooted personality analysis to match people, they probably just say, "They smoke, and so do they, let's put them together". The Uni seems determined to single out internationals as being different and automatically guaranteed to all go around in a flock, so I'm sure it's the same with every other vaguely connected group.

This is about right. I said I had an interest in jazz and partying, and they've put me with a guy who's a drummer and likes parties. But I hate sport and he's quite into it, which isn't exactly a problem but it just goes to show that they don't try to get it absolutely 100% the same person as you.

Yeah, that seems like how they do it. That's why I exaggerated how loud/partying I am, even though I am those things, I didn't dare put the fact I like my own space occasionally cos' they'd stick me with a load of flatmates who never go out unless it's for a lecture. Which would be hell.

Yeah  I basically said I like parties, jazz and acting. And said I planned to go out partying about 3/4 times a week just to make sure I didn't get someone boring... The box to write in was tiny! Could only fit in about 5 sentences...

Haha I did the same. Though I felt like I did have to write down that I don't drink.
Ah well, it'll be good either way. If my roommate is very shy, at least it will make me seem like a party animal in comparison =P

Does anyone know if you find out from Hatfield if you're sharing or not before you get there?

xxx

Also interested to know this - will we hear about where we're staying / room-mates etc before we get down there?

If you're living out, shouldn't have you have been put into Cuth's? I thought those living at home all had to be there..

Okay; Jgupta - you really should hear from Hatfield if you're sharing. If you hear nothing, you won't be sharing, but you can call up the college secretary to check if you want. Do bear in mind the strikes at the moment make deliveries a little late!

Dave, you're quite wrong there - Castle has some people who live at home, for instance.

Just to say it's now been posted on the Hatfield facebook page that we don't find out til we get there whether we are shared, single or ensuite.
Something else to be excited about!!

(I'm getting too excited...)
