how do i know if my contact lenses are too tight? what is this?

hello. one of my lenses is fine, but the other , when i blink it feels scratchy on my upper inside of my eyelid. i've heard with new annual lenses that there's a breaking in period - anyone know how long it lasts? i cant see my eye doc as they are booked up when im free, for 3 weeks

It's perfectly normal for them to do that, I've been wearing mine for over 2 years and they still do it. The breaking in period depends really on how often you wear them, if you wear them every day then you'll get used to them quicker.

I can't feel mine so I wouldn't say it was normal. Perhaps it's scratched, torn or there's a speck of dust on it..?
Are they soft or hard ones? I think hard as you said annual, in which case I can't help you.

That might be because everyone is different with contact lenses. Sometimes I can't feel mine, but when they start to scratch then I definetly can feel them.

i think your lens might be broken. the other one that feels scratchy. if your eye is red and it hurts then the lens is definately broken and your better off with another one of that eye.

no it wouldn't feel itchy she(or he?) just wouldn't be able to see properly.

I always thought that if the lens was inside out eyesight will still be okay, just that you'd feel incredibly uncomfortable? (I've never tried that though, and I wouldn't want to unless it was by accident!)

Anyway, look at your lens very closely to see if there are any tears/scratches/etc. If yes never put it back onto your eye. If no and it still seems wrong go see your optician/optometrist...

From my experience, soft lenses tend to scratch the eye when they're inside out or if the lense is too dry. I always put some solution on the lense before applying it so that it won't irritate so much once it's on my eye. Oh and contact lenses do take a while to get used to, mine were always scratching at first!

I know allll about what lenses feel like when inside out....as the girl who did my 'training' taught me the wrong way (!!) and I didn't realise until a month later. You can still see fine, but yeah it's just scratchy around the edges though I found that eased after a while. Lol. When I put them in the right way for the first time I was so happy! I couldn't even feel they were there. I'd thought I was just gonna have to put up with the discomfort, accepting it as normal.
It's likely that your lens is scratched or slightly torn, (i only know about soft lenses though) they nick really easily! Also you could try removing it and giving it a really good rinse with your solution and then trying again. And also double check it's not inside out. Other than that, is it not possible to pop in to your eye doc when you can and see if there's an assistant who might be able to give u a hand?
ok folks it dfinately not torn or dirty, or broken as it is brand new soft annual lens. but when i took them off, my eye-white had swollen up so do you know if you look hard in the mirror with lenses on you can see the clear lens edge as a sort of ring around the eye, it was like that but i had taken off the lens. is this normal?

Just because it is new doesn't mean it's not broken you'd be suprised how many lenses come out of the pack ripped scratched or generally wrong. If it is leaving a ring on your eye then do not wear it again, go back to your optometrist and be reassessed for that lense, you will just need a slightly larger diameter :-)

As they're new then you won't really know if there's a problem, so go back to the opticians and ask. They shouldn't mind!
