So, I'm supposed to send out my UCAS in 2 days and I'm freaking out. I've chosen these universities in the UK:
1) AUCB - The Arts University College at Bournemouth - Film Production
2) UCA - University for the Creative Arts - Film Production
3) UCLan - University of Central Lancashire – Film Production
4) UoG - University of Gloucestershire - Digital Film Production
5) Ravensbourne - Digital Film Production
6) Leeds Metropolitan - Film & Moving Image Production
...and basically have no idea which one I'd want to go to if I don't get into Bournemouth but that's another story. The bigger problem is that I have no idea how to find the best film production universities outside of England but still in the UK. Namely, in Scotland, Wales or Northern Ireland. And that's because I don't want to pay those enormous tuition fees. They're a bit scarry to be frank. So, if anyone could tell me if there are good unis in those countries or at least help me out with ranking my 6 choices that would be awesome.
P.S. Not to boast, but I'm pretty confident I can get in anywhere. That's mostly why I'm afraid of making the wrong choice.

I didn't get into Bournemouth and wasn't willing to go anywhere else down south, so I went to UCLan. I like it here, and the course is actually really good. One of our lecturers was recently nominated for Best British Short Film at the Edingborough Film Festival for "The Cull".

Preston itself...don't come here expecting a glamorous city in the North. It seems more like a student town, as the majority of the people here are students. It's actually really dead when everyone goes home :P

My two favourites are AUCB and Newport. I wouldn't be too confident about Bournemouth unless you have an art foundation, work experience and a really strong passion (I am definately not confident after my interview but I will find out soon). The competition is so fierce. I think Newport is just as good as Bournemouth so I would be just as happy in either

I just got an offer for their Year 0 Film Production at AUCB. So happy! Basically they talk to a little at the start saying briefly how the interview will go. Then they call you for about 20 mins, you show your showreel, go through your portfolio (They weren't overly interested in much except my photobook and they skimmed one essay). Then you just chat and they ask you questions like Where do you see yourself in 10 years, What was the last film you saw, What other arts do you like etc. Then they offer to give you a tour when all yor group has gone through, I didnt stay for this because I have saw it at an open day.

Make sure you note what the person who you interview specialises in, mine was editing so I made sure not to say anything anti-editng (I want to do Cinematography). During my interview the guys laughed at me a lot and I kind of rambled on about random failure to send any films I had made for competitions. My showreel was honestly terrible, the advice I got before hand was not put music over the top but let the video sound play. And I had a showreel and a short film on the DVD which meant he offered to watch both so I could show off more (you know what I mean). My portfolio was aiming to have a little bit of everything they list on the guideline but there was two much and they weren't that interested in some bits.

Hey, yeah I got an offer for the Year 0 course, but I don't know if doing an extra year really appeals to me that much considering that I have offers that are letting me straight onto a three year course at other Uni's

Congrats! I knew you would get a offer. I know what you mean though. If Newport gives me an offer I am going to have a really hard decision. Year 0 sounds fun as it is more experience and less for examination but at £9000 a year, it makes it less appealing.

Hey guys, I now have conditional offers for:

Film Production - Bournemouth Arts (3 Year Course)
TV Production - Bournemouth Uni
Film and Video - Newport
Film and TV - Hertfordshire

Still need to hear back from Falmouth Uni, but the man at the interview did tell me that he would 'Be very surprised' if I didn't get an offer. But I am still waiting for a reply. It's not really my first choice anyway.

Film at Falmouth or Bournemouth Arts?

Help! I have an Unconditional for Falmouth and Conditional for Bournemouth Arts.

However Falmouth has a very good reputation, and works on 50% theory work such as screenwriting etc. and the other 50% on practical, and Bournemouth works on 90% Practical.

Because of this the films produced at Bournemouth are very good compared with Falmouth's films, I just don't know what to do. Because I love both places and courses. Please? Advice? Thank you!!

Here's my list thus far for Film/contemporary media:
Middlesex: No response
SouthBank: Conditional (Only put them down just in case i was turned down everywhere else lol)
Roehamption: Conditional
Kingston: Conditional (I had an interview with them and they expressed that they really want me there)
Westminster: Conditional (The interview process was tough, but I just laughed my way through and remained myself, They noted my work was a high standard and so were concerned I may be frustrated, at the slower pace, but really want me to come though)

All the conditionals are based on the fact that I pass my current course which is HNC media production.

I think I may Firm Westminster and have Kingston as an Insurance, simply because I believe Westminster tutors would challenge and push me more and the facilities are better there.
