Accurate information about gender arrangements, basin/en-suite status, when they were last refurbished, the size and generally anything about individual rooms much appreciated! (Also, which room numbers are ground floor, first floor, etc...) I want to know everything so I can make my choices carefully for next year when I will be living on campus!

I'm in Lindsay Taylor House.
Its 2 floors, 12 guys (bottom), 12 girls (top), one bathroom on each floor (3 toilets, 3 showers, 1 bath) 2 kitchens per floor (so share with 6 people, its really good compared to some, loads of fridge/freezer space compared to others too) Basin in room...anything else you want to know?
Its nothing special - not very new, old (and stained) carpets, draught comes through the window, but its alright. Possible best view on campus! Out over the fields (and onto the M6 - some people like watching cars when they get bored, its quite far away though really)

Lindsay I Block - 15 rooms (all guys), the rooms are kind of wrapped around a central staircase, one toilet situated at the bottom, one bathroom half way up (2 sinks, 1 toilet, 2 showers), and one bathroom at the top (2 sinks, 1 toilet, 1 bath).
Kitchen is situated near the bottom (2 fridge/freezers - not enough for 15 people! and it can be difficult to fit all the food in). The general kitchen area is also very small and within the block there is no sitting/lounge area to socialise in. Most of the time we socialise and eat on the stairs lol.
All the rooms are 'non-basin', the general block design from the outside is very 70s style, so it looks kind of cheap and tacky lol. The rooms are reasonably spacious and the carpets are quite new. A draught comes through my old window but the rest of the rooms have newer windows without this problem. There is quite a lot of storage space compared to other rooms i have seen and the desks are more than adequate.
The view is nothing special from my room, and i think this applies to all the rooms. That's all i can think of...hope this has helped. Feel free to ask any further questions.

best view is horwood O block, floor 5 room 1 or 6. looks out onto horwood hall and it looks mint when the sun filters through the trees in the evening...its a roughly 39 second walk from the SU and the library and theres more than 30 ppl in the block though you only share with 5 others on your floor...Suicide Block Rules!
Any other all male blocks? Nothing against blokes (okay so that's a lie), but I don't think they would let me have a room there! Also, which ones are all female and which ones are mixed?
Lyndsay hall blocks are a mixed of single sex and both. taylor house, lyndsay court, and blocks S and T are mixed sex blocks. i think the others are single sexed.
I am in block S and there are 3 floors... all boys on the bottom, all girls on the middle floor (my floor) and mixed on the top floor. S block is definately the best block in my opinion. they were recently re-furbished. when i heard that the walls were orange and the carpets were green i thought the rooms would look horrible but they dont. they are some of the biggest rooms on campus. bigger than my room at home. my friend down the hall even has a dining room table in her room aswell as an on-suite so size is awesome. If i live on campus in my 3rd or 4th year i sooo want to come back to this block, ive seen the others, lyndsay blocks S, T and lyndsay court are the nicest. the oaks and holly cross are ok but further away and a long walk to carry your stuff to the laundrette and they are a lot quieter then other blocks. horwood (aka: chavsville) are not that nice but close to the union. lyndsay halls are good cause they are close to everything. i love my block. S BLOCK KICKS ASS!

Taylor house has the best kitchens in lindsay.
They aren't the most modern, and generally look fairly untidy when people leave their plates and stuff all over. They do however have nice big ovens (where lots of lindsay kitchens have crappy 'microwave combi ovens') and they're spacious (nice sized table with chairs, two big fridge freezers and plenty of worksurface space for microwaves, toasters, etc etc.)
Not to mention that fact that you only have to share with 5 other people at a maximum, and in the case of my kitchen there's only really 4 people actually using it!

haha, well sorry.. dont mean to offend anyone but there has to be at least one area on campus that we can poke fun at. it makes us feel better about our blocks lol. and yes, i go to horwwod bar sometimes so i know there are some non-chavs.. i just like calling it chavs-ville cause it is quite scruffy and my friend who lived there always used to call it that. (although in a strange way, the chav-ness of it all is comforting cause i reminds me of home - i live in chav town up north)

Am i right in thinking that we have no choice of what hall we stay in? All we can do is opt for non-basin, basin or ensuite (and the housing peeps decide which hall we're in with that information)?

That's right - but all the halls are pretty similar anyway, so it's much of a muchness (apart from Hawthorns being a bit further away, but it's awesome so that makes up for it!)
I've only seen the flats, but the impression I get is that they are pretty grim compared to other accommodation.
I was in Lindsay P last year and it had just been done up. It's all girls and 10 to a kitchen bathroom, good views across the rest of Lindsay and across the fields to the motorway.
It was pretty good compared to other blocks, I think that P and O blocks are being used to put ppl in when blocks are refurbished next year so I don't know if they are availible, but if they are then they're good.
I'm gunna be in Barnes flats next year hopefully!! And hopefully the ones that have just been refurbished!!! Can't wait!!
