My barrier is usually more ideas than money, so it tends to be however much I manage to find something suitable for. I always worry it's not enough though!
Depends if you are with the guy, or are just dating, or how long you've been together if you are boyfriend and girlfriend.

Also depends on what kinda of thing he/she likes. CDs and DVDs, you'd spend a lot less than if they were into clothes, whereas if they liked homemade gifts you'd not spend very much for a really personal and one off gift
I felt really guilty last year. I spent about £25 on my bfs birthday present, handmade a card, and had everything gift wrapped properly. I thought this was quite nice, and realy generous for me. However, for my birthday 3 months later, he flew us both to Dublin and took me shopping etc, cost well over £100 :s
But it's the thought that counts right? ^-^*

How long have you been with him for?

Valentines normally 30, Christmas 50 and birthdays maybe around 100? We're both students so we don't have much and we've been together for four years in April. I'll spend quite a bit on him for that one i think, we're going to go away. xx

4 years though! :p: What about the average 6 months or so? Or have you always stuck to those amounts?

Yeah it's always been about that, maybe a bit less for valentines. It was easier to spend those amounts on eachother when we were at school and college because we worked then. xx

For Christmas, I must've spent about £100+ on stuff for my boyfriend. For Valentine's Day, I've spent about £40 and for his birthday, I spent £15 because I had next to no money and didn't know what to get him!
This v.day I've gone way over the top. spent 182 pound

I've been seeing my girlfriend since the beginning of november and it was her birthday in mid dec. I spent about £60 on her birthday and about £55 on Christmas.
