drugs

when i was a teenager, i was quite badly into doing drugs, i was into the rave scene and was going to diffrent raves every weekend, i was realy into amphetamine ie speed, ecstacy, acid, and for a couple of years more recantly, i was smoking crack cocaine, for a year now i havnt touched any drugs, but i still feel i get very deppressed still, and very paranoid, and loads of panic attacks, i now find it hard to get on with people, but before i used to do drugs i was a very bubbly out going person with loads of friends, since i started doing drugs that went all down hill, so i thought giving up drugs, would get rid of my paranoa and deppression, etc, but it hasnt, do you think in time it will get better or do you think drugs have messed up my mind forever

It could be that you don't perceive your quality of life to have improved since you came off drugs. Whatever you feel right now - the fact of the matter is that you're far better off without drugs.
The friends you had before you took to drugs - do they now know you're 'clean'? If they were anti-drugs, I would have hoped they would have welcomed you back with open arms.
Long term abuse inevitably effects personality change.

I think that acid can have adverse long term side effects. i think you can get flashbacks from previous trips years later. maybe go and speak to your doctor. whatever you tell them is confidential, as far as im aware, they have no obligation to inform anyone. be prepared for a lecture though. well done for stopping taking crack by the way, its a nasty nasty drug.

Acid flashbacks are an anti-drugs myth.

As for a doctor "lecturing" the person - I'd really hope this isn't true. I don't think it is for most doctors, though some might be clearly judgemental. Hopefully MOST doctors know that these 'lectures' do more harm than good.

P.S. Yeeep, crack is one of the most addictive, and one of the biggest highs (which means, one of the biggest lows). I still want to take it on my death bed though, just to see what it's like. Because, basically, addiction isn't going to be an issue.
