Lump underneath arm pit

Hi guys. I'm a little worried because a small lump underneath my left arm pit has reappeared. It is really sore when I press it and it when pressed it feels like a small ball. Even when I press my arm down, it's pretty painful. I'm going to see my doctor about it on friday or the following week, but does anybody have any ideas in the mean time. :afraid:

You say reappeared, have you had the same thing before? And if so what was done previously?

To be honest it could be any number of things, but assuming that you are relatively young it is unlikely to be anything to be unduely worried about.

Most likely it is a lymph gland enlargement (often due to infection), lipoma (fatty lump), cyst (skin infection, often due to antiperspirants).

How would you describe it (colour, shape, size, etc)?
Has it gotten bigger since you first noticed it?

Hey.

I had this problem too... I could feel it under both armpits, on my back etc. etc. and it was simply a lymph gland enlargement which still happens from time to time.

Only difference was that I didn't feel any pain. I'm sure it's something similar though.

Don't worry though. You'll find out soon anyway... Hope it goes well.

Thank you

I don't actually know what happened before, it sort of disappeared after a couple of days. But this one seems like it's been there for much longer. It's probably the size of a small grape and you can pinch the skin around it. On the skin, you can see nothing i.e. there's nothing raised. It's all underneath

err see a doctor if its a lump.

I've had something like this before and it was an abcess caused by an infected lymph gland but like everyone has said see your GP to be certain and if it is an infection you'll need antibiotics.

If you read my post mangaroo, I said I am seeing a doctor. I wanted some information in the mean time

So, how is this infection caused? In the past, I've had really swollen underarms due to a reaction I had with an anti persperant...perhaps that came back again

I'm betting it's an inflamed gland. I get them all the time. Is the area round your neck a bit sore too, or achey?

If you have an infected spot or cut near a lumph gland it will suddenly enlarge and start to hurt, probably until the infection has gotten better. If, for example, you've got an ingrown toenail, or an infected pimple on your leg, the lymph gland in your groin on the same side will enlarge and start to hurt. It's just the gland doing its job.

If it appeared over a fairly short period of time ( days ) and is tender, then it is likely to be an infective process.
Eg:
Infected epidermoid/sebaceous cyst, lymph node, small abscess etc.

I had this, it turned out to be a blocked sebaceous gland. My aunt had just been diagnosed with Breast Cancer so i was super freaked. Lived with a bunch of guys and they were so worried bless........

But, it just went away. $30 well spent..........

Yeah i've got a little one under my right armpit and it goes away sometimes and stuff. It probably is a gland.
