I don't agree with the "the BBC waste the license fee" etc. If that was the case you'd know about it from the Government.. I think its just a general criticism they get when there’s nothing that suits a particular individual on a certain night.. Were lucky to have them and we probably take it too much for granted!

In a digital world though, it is possible to 'cut off' the BBC for people who dont wish to pay it like people with sky choose to get skysports by paying for it. This should be an option.

Feasible maybe but it wouldn't be following the law.. It comes with owning a telly, and pluging it in... the idea being telly can still get bbc through analogue so you HAVE to pay.. but am sure many people would want what you suggested.

Yes. The government wants all tv's to be digital by 2006-9 I think. It will eventually shut off analogue reception, then this option would be viable.

Indeed, but how likely do you think?

It wont happen soon, without a doubt. At some point in the future the BBC will become defunct as we know it, I have no doubt about that.

An interesting view! We shall wait and see no doubt.

Itv is dire though.

One major critism the BBC deserves is the way they handle The Simpsons. I just couldn't beleive when I watched the recent episodes which HAD ONLY JUST HAVE BEEN BROADCASTED A MONTH AGO ASWELL!!

this is certaintly not on...and I dont see why they couldn't have screened some other Simpsons episodes from earlier series if so.
Showing the same episode twice in the space of a month or so is completely not on!!

bbc is only ok cos it has no commercials...other channels are sooooo annoying to watch

Reply 31

I think itv is good because if I watch the television I want to be entertained but the bbc is good for the news. I think overall ITV is better.

Reply 32

I like the BBC! Don't forget they give us lots of good radio stations toooooo!

Only good thing about BBC is for its sport and Neighbours, and Test the Nation stuff.

Apart from that, theres usually nothing to watch.

I prefer ITV.

Better Dramas, better Soaps, better reality shows.

Reply 34

ahhh - cant stand those crappy Test the Nation or Come and have a go if you think youre smart enough programmes!! Theyre so boring

I swear by the BBC World Service.

Reply 36

Apparently according to a mail on sunday article ITV are planning to ditch their analogue service and concentrate purely on digital channels due to the growing popularity of digital receivers and the rising cost of operating an analogue channel

Reply 37

ITV is the equivalent of the The Sun in the newspaper world. I mean come on Love on a saturday night.
Blind date
Coronation street
Fantasy football
how boring can you get?

MTV Base and BET kicks BBC's and ITV's asses. A bit of Animal Planet now and again isn't too bad either.
