there was an article in good housekeeping about bra measuring. obviously the best place to go is rigby and peller but we can't all afford that. marks is meant to be the best on the high street. don't go to places like la senza or knickerbox, they're meant to be useless

when i got fitted at john lewis the woman just looked at me and didn't measure anything... [and the bra is totally the wrong size]

but the theory is, bras stretch, measuring tapes dont

oh and to all the people who are different back sizes, but the same cup size, are you sure?? because the back and cup are relevant. a 32C=34B=36A=38AA

I'm a 34B and I find La Senza and M&S bras the best.

I don't recommend balconette bras really-I have a couple in a B cup and I don't fill them and they look stupid..you need to be a larger cup size for them I think.

Best place to get measured-M&S.They are always really helpful...they'll measure you...then send you off to choose some bras, then check the fit on them.

marks & spencers is a gr8 place to get measured they are fab so its on embrassing and they only take a few minutes and get you a perfect fitted size:biggrin:

Marks and Spencer really is the best place on the high street to get fitted/get bras. Does anyone find La Senza bras have really small cups? and I find the back strap comes up really high on my back! Very annoying. I wish I was a 34B, I hate my size, I'm a 34DD!!!!

Yeah there's a La Senza in Queens Arcade.

well a 34B is basically the same size as a 32C, and i find that these bras give way better cleavage!!

yeah i think la senza bras are small. i go up a cup size there.

as for the back strap riding up at the back, it means its too loose! try decreasing the back size (you'd probably need to go up a cup size if u decrease the back size.)

is it really true that a 34B = 32C? because i find this never works for me - i am a 32F, which is not available in many places, so i try buying 36DD etc but they never seem to fit, the wire doesnt touch my chest, and i end up with overspill under the bra! not a good look!! to the OP, id say wonderbras all the way! i used to have one with a sorta string thing that u pull depending on how much cleavage you want

The cup sizes are the same, but obviously the back size will vary so you might end up too squished/too loose. It's not a good idea to think that you're a 32F which equates to a 36DD, but if the 32F doesn't fit then you know what to try that might fit better.

I found that doesn't always work as well. I'm a 34DD and I tried on a 36C a little while ago and the cup size was too big for me  'twas really strange.

the cup size is the same, but obviously if your back is a 32 , a 36 back is gonna be way too big! it only really works if you're borderline between say 32/34 or whatever..... not by jumping up two back sizes!

That really would make no sense otherwise 36A people (does it even exist?!) would go out and buy 32C bras.... I really don't think so, the cup size would obviously be too big. A 34B bra would be too small in the cup for a 32C girl, and would be too wide round the back thus band would either rise up or sit too low on the back. So no, a 32C is not equivalent to a 34B, let alone a 38AA!!!

Think about jeans, if someone was a 28 x 30 (a size ten, standard leg) telling them that it's around the same size as a 26 x 32 isn't really gonna help them much. It's the same with bras, it wouldn't fit right.

yes, obviously! i was just saying that 32C and 34B are the same cup size, essentially - the amount of boob is the same! i'm not saying people who are 38A should go out and buy 32D bras or whatever....

and to the girl that said the strap was riding up at the back, that means its too loose, so i said she should decrese the back size and therefore increase the cup size because the amount of actual breast she has is still the same!

and people who are borderline back sizes can get away with wearing one or the other, but not drastically increasing or decreasing, obviously!
