We were being pedantic already? I'll carry on as such then...

Looking at this objectively, not subjectively, then I would imagine most people would agree that greenery is 'lovely'...But regardless of that, I'm not sure what you mean by the dominant colour, but I can tell you that looking out of my window right now, about 75% of my view is green...

It's a little subjective.

Whether you like it or not, is surely personal preference... and she expressed a penchant for the greenery and othersuch bloat. BLOAT.

And infact while we are being pedantic, Im not sure the dominant colour about the college is actually green...

*ROLLEYES!!!!!!!!*

ForeverDecember what floor are you on in Christopher? The top floor is ridiculously high, but it has great people on it. As a visitor to this lovely college i must say the food is absoloutley horrible, and they charge me 4.50 to eat it! What a rip off...
I think I am actually the only person in College who likes the food. I know plenty who don't mind it, and get by, but I actually like it. It's nice.

Do you know how you got food? Was 4.50 for the 3 meals a day, or just per meal?
I live on the 2nd floor...but I know a few of the people on the top floor too...who are you here visiting?
What's that? Hild Bede rocks?

Yeah, I know.

But I am probably the most. I mean, I spend a whole year in the most amazing and exciting college, with the most incredible people, with loads of things to do every single day and night, in beautiful, spacious grounds right by the river; the best college in Durham, and then I come home to do nothing for 4 months.

For other people it's not the same. You go to your hum-drum colleges for a year, you come back home and the boredom's just not that big a deal - you're used to it.

Hild Bede is great! To answer some of the questions:
-none of freshers this year share a room
-room sizes vary a lot, but even the normal small uni room as expected has everything you could possibly need. Besides, it's a year until you get yourself a cool house with your mates.
-the food is okay. it isnt't great, but well above the standards of normal school-provided meals. You can expect to be eating potatoes more than usual, but the meals should be more or less the same in all catered colleges, so no one is at advantage here.
-I really can't stress enough what a great location Hild Bede has. if you're in one of the hill colleges you can expect to be walking good 20-30 mins every time you go to the centre (nights out can be very long then) and if you're in on the the Bailey colleges you're basically in the centre, hence no greenery, no football or tennis courts, so if you're sporty you have to walk all the way to Maiden Caste (sports centre) for practice, whereas in HB we have two gyms and all aforementioned courts.

I admit I was really disappointed when I was allocated to St Bede and St Hild from Josephine Butler (which is practically the exact opposite). I have never had good a experience with catered services, so I don't expect anything respectable here as well. The price also seems ludicrous compared to what's on offer.

It's possibly the no. 1 reason I'll be declining my Durham offer, though I'll think carefully before doing so (-Durham is Durham after all!).

You the way, may I ask what the bathroom facilities are like?

Are you going to go on the visit day thing this month,

Where are you going to firm instead?

I'm not from the UK so it's practically impossible for me to visit.

I've not given up completely on Durham yet, but I'm leaning towards KCL (for Law that is).

So can students not cater for themselves whilst living in St Hild & St Bede?! This worries me slightly...

Looking at the university website, most of the colleges are fully catered, including St Hild and St Bede.
