It's a scheme run by Edexcel. There's DiDA (Diploma in Digital Application), CiDA (Certificate) and AiDA (award) course. DiDA is equivalent to 4 GCSEs, CiDA to 2 and AiDA to 1. There are (apparently) no written papers and focuses more on application of ICT knowledge, rather than the theory-heavy GCSE etc courses - they're meant to prepare you more for the practical elements of the real-world.

Our school doesn't support the programme but I know other schools in my borough does. I guess it's quite useful it you want to go into ICT, business etc afterwards.

For more info try: http://dida.edexcel.org.uk/home/

My school supports the porgramme - but only for students who aren't expected to achieve the entry requirements of 5 A*-C GCSEs. The courses are really meant for people who can do OKish in their GCSEs, but don't think they can cope with four A-levels (or so I've been told!)

Well I'm only aware of DiDA, so I'm unsure whether this applies to AiDA and CiDA but I'm pretty sure it would...

For DiDA you have two levels, level 1 (which I guess would be foundation GCSE) and level 2 (which would be a higher GCSE). At both levels, you can get either a pass, credit, merit or distinction, which would be equivalent to C, B, A and A* respectively at level 2 and F/G, E, D and C respectively at level 1.

There's more information on the Edexcel DiDA website. http://dida.edexcel.org.uk/home/

Also there's more specific information about the grading on this page:
http://dida.edexcel.org.uk/home/faq-centres/qual-level/

Hope that helps

Has anyone else been downgraded this year in CIDA ict, because my teacher claims that it is a national problem happening all over the UK yet when I come on here no one seems to have been downgraded! Is it just my school? And if anyone else is in year 11 and they know when the actual deadline for Unit 2 is, I would be really grateful if they could reply! Thank you

I'm not exactly sure why you bumped this really old thread as opposed to starting a new one... but anyway, I have been marked down quite a bit too (for DiDA). I originally obtained a distinction (A*) for the first 2 modules (out of the 4 making up DiDA) and they have been marked down to a Merit (A) and a Credit (B). That's 2 whole grades down in the second SPB. :eek2: Yet all those who barely scraped passes and credits have remained on their original marks so everyone has somehow managed to pass; only the higher mark-achievers were knocked down. Hmmm.

My teacher is appealing against it, though I really doubt anything will be done about it. :frown: I have settled for the conclusion that all the AiDA/CiDA/DiDA courses are ****; and so is edexcel.

I'm worried about mine :frown: I've just finished the first SPB (only just as well :frown:) hate this damn course  When I return to school (Monday) I have one week to correct any mistakes and then that's it :frown: I really want an A in this but don't think I'll get an A :frown:

Last years statistics was like 53 people out of a possible 15,000 got an A* (Distinction) and then around 500 got an A (Merit)
