Maybe they mean attitude wise as well. That pretty boys are arrogant or conceited because others class them as good looking.

Do you remember how the Westlife boys looked way back when they released their first album? That's pretty boy :p:
i have to say im one of those that just dont like 'pretty boys'

pretty boys are smooth, sleek, dress well, style their hair with lots of effort, have a sort of feminine look about them ...ie their face/eyes smile is all delicate and 'pretty'

basically imo a guy can be groomed and not be a pretty boy..being a pretty boy is more to do with delicate facial features..
hmmm..orlando bloom?..

as for why i dont like them much, i could say exactly, maybe i just like a bit or stubble and my guys being a bit rugged and imperfect...i dunno..maybe its the whole cave man thing??

Thing is i don't like 'poncey' people!

I call my boyfriend pretty to annoy him. He says he doesn't want to be pretty he wants to be handsome and I say 'No, you are pretty!' So he calls me handsome instead....:p:

I agree with you different? i REALLY like these pretty boys epecially Lee Williams etc etc.
men have either a more feminine face or more masculine face
boyband type guys tend to be feminine faced
russell crowe, clive owen etc are masculine faced

'pretty boys' is a derogatory term for what is also known as 'metrosexual', ie guys with feminine features who may be quite good looking, but are very heavily into their self-image and grooming

it carries with it the stigma of the guys being especially vain and narcissistic

Damn, I thought some were just naturally pretty and not overly vain, I couldn't handle too vain.
of course the term could be being misused by some people who are jealous - you have to make your own mind up on whether the person is really vain or not

one of my female friends is especially pretty but not arrogant at all, and a lot of other girls make bitchy comments to her like "you think you're so pretty don't you" (what they mean is, "i think you're so pretty don't I")

I wouldnt say im a pretty boy but have a definite femine side and as such i have a LOT of female friends even more so than male mates but im not gay, i do need to spend at least 5 minutes doing my hair before i go out thou :P
different?
Many people who i find attractive have been classed as 'pretty' boys and i am scorned for this, although this isn't a problem am I alone in this liking? And why are people so against them!? What classifies a boy as 'pretty'?

You're probably scorned because it's more about fashion/what the media establishes as attractive than about personal taste. Then again, what we find attractive is influenced by so many factors...

You'll see, you'll grow out of the phase in a few years and will find yourself attracted to fat bald guys.

Lord help us no, I'll just move onto my other liking, suave old men eg Pierce Brosnan!
I generally like more feminine, pretty faces, rather than a masculine looking man.

However, theres always going to be guys who fit into neither category, which I sometimes like too.

My housemates like bigger, masculine guys and whenever I think someones hot shes thinking they're awful!

Everyones different, so don't feel weird for liking what you do.

If I'm in the least attractive, then I sit on the 'pretty' [dainty/delicate] side of the fence; no doubt about that.
