i didn't find out which hall i was going to be in until i received my exam grades and my formal offer, so mid/end of august?

I'm interested in learning which halls are the lively ones and would love to know which are the top ones for fun? Why is Broadgate Park 4tw?
Finally, what's Cripps like and is HuStu full of rahs?
Reply 7
Well it changes from year to year since it's random, but i would say no. xx

From my experience and from talking to friends in other halls, Sherwood and Rutland are probably the two liveliest. It's not like other halls are going to be boring, though.

You'll find that each hall has it's traditions and pride, very cliquey...but i mean they're all good but location wise, Cripps and Hugh Stu are the best, but it doesn't matter too much.

Broadgate Park is by far the worst....smallest rooms, location close to Uni park but not furthest to town...it's nice but not as nice as Raleigh Park or St. Peter's Court, but St. Peter's Court is too far and in a slightly dangerous area so id say Raleigh is the best out of the Self Catering Halls.
from my experience too, rutland and sherwood are the livliest halls to be in. lots of banter, LOADS of karni stuff cos we're ACE at it, etc etc. but hey, you can't do anything to change where you are so just accept it! you make it what it is..

What do you guys mean by banter in this context?
sorry i realised you've asked me that before and i've never replied! i mean, banter is when everyone knows and gets on with each other, more parties, more fun things to do, more good chat and happenings in the hall. a friend on jubilee told me today "rutland's the party hall"! i mean that we all know how to have a good time. agree rach??
It's certainly a constant party, yep! The banter is all good.

Speaking from personal experience Cripps is definately one of the best halls to be in. It has some of the biggest rooms around and is the most central hall on campus along with hugh stu. Although its pretty big in terms of population (around 300) the architect is brilliant and the way it has been designed allows everyone to get to know each other really well.

HuStu and Cripps are by far the best located halls, but personally if i had the choice again i would have chosen to be self catered. The food here is frankly awful after the first time and I find it a real struggle to stick to the meal times, but that might just be me. Rayleigh park is gorgeous but still is quite far out. Im considering Broadgate Park or Rayleigh next year, as i could poss be a fresher again lol...which do u think would be best?
