No, sorry not doing Unit 2. Got Unit 3 on the 24th however, so nervous for that!

I thought for/agt FPTP would've been common knowledge for most tbh, i suppose you might struggle after 2 points

How did you find it?

Not too bad, managed to get some solid points in and I stayed relevant/reverted back to the question throughout which has been a major problem for me previously, so hopefully...

How about you?

Not too sure, I don't like to get overconfident about anything, because the first time I did this paper, I thought I did alright. Can out check my answer plan on the last page

Judging by your comments, I'm screwed. I didn't revise elections as I didn't have time! Wish I did though as that question was lovely. Went with PGs and Parties instead :|

I'm sure you did better than you thought! I did the same topics as you, how did you find the c questions and the functional representation question? I dont think i wrote enough/included enough points for the essay questions.
For whether pressure groups were more powerful or not, i didnt refer to any of the points in the andrew heywood textbook of corporatism and globalism etc..... i kinda just made them up aha...

In a nutshell for Pressure Groups question C I said that although Pressure Groups have increased in membership and ability, many can still be cast aside by the Government - Stop The War Coalition (Although I did say that not listening to the group could have possibly led to Labour's downfall) However, business groups, due to globalization, can threaten the Government and therefore wield immense power.

They're strong points though, as my teacher kept saying, examiners prefer a couple well developed points over several undeveloped points. I think 2(ish) pages maybe more, I messed up on the time slightly so I was rushing a bit towards the end...

Oh I didn't mention anything like that for pressure groups! Blast.
Functional representation I didn't have a clue about so I just made it up. But I found the essay quite easy once I'd planned it out a bit, I probably got the wrong end of the stick though.

Hi, the way edexcel marks are more of a point basis, with only a couple of developed points for each side you may only get 14/15, they know that timing is very tight for this paper, that is why I have a feeling grade boundaries might be low, and if not many revised elections, then there could be lower average marks.

Page 16 provides a mark scheme basically for part c of elections. however, I feel with the question set on the 13th, there was scope to include discussion of how other systems may improve representation, other than FPTP, ie List is simple, provides PR, however, it could lead to multi-member constituencies, which may prevent a representative from efficiently carrying out his/her role to represent.

Edexcel are all about quality over quantity. Thus that's why some of their questions only ask for three points for a 10 mark question, they want you to develop those points, not just name various points with no detail or development.

Hmm, but thats for a 10 marker, hence an 'explain' part, but I guess you may be right, but I didn't think it was too hard to write 4 solid, evaluative paragraphs. But I guess if you're teacher said 2 points for/agt. was enough, then maybe it is :s

That was a very tough paper in my view, I sat it :P

http://www.edexcel.com/iwantto/I%20want%20to%20%20Tasks/1106%20GCE%20Units%20Grade%20Boundaries%20(Home%20Int).pdf - JUNE 2011 grade boundaries.

I think grade boundaries might be slightly higher this time round perhaps 50-54 for an A. To be honest, after seeing this, if I haven't improved I will be so gutted.

"To what extent have the two governing parties held onto their principles since the coalition was formed?"

LOL, they haven't.
