7 A'*s 2 A's GCSE
3 A's A-level (physics, latin, maths)
17/24 LNAT and no clue on essay.

Theres a real mix of ppl here at UCL tho most ppl did well atleast on one thing. By the looks of it, the LNAT is quite.. not hugely, but quite important, which isnt too surprising as UCL helped to devise it.
They did accept 30 students this year, as in the current freshers, with only AAB but this was a break from tradition as normally its AAA. They gave AAB to those students who came from poor performing schools and could achieve AAA had their school been better.. so if youre from a public or grammar school.. theres no chance of getting a AAB offer. There are some who had an AAA offer but who ended up with AAB and still got in, but bear in mind this year they got the numbers right and they weren't over subscribed after results day. ie. They always give out more offers than places, and this year, after results, the number of those having reached the req grades and places more or less matched, whereas the year before (our second yrs) there were way too many who reached the grades compared to the places they were willing to offer. SO basically, if its a full year where everyone hits theirs grades and you miss yours, you wont get in.

Just as a matter of info.. app ours is the worst year they ever had since we do NO work, this comes from Lucinda Miller, and app according to her all the tutors had to have a discussion about it.

blow it up ur arse miss & ill see u in a couple of weeks in tutorials

Hilarious! We were told exactly the same thing in our first year.

GCSE: 1A* 9As 2Bs (not great, but it wasn't a great school either).
A Level: 4As
Extra-curricular: Grade 8 violin, public speaking, drama, athletics, voluntary work...

what you chatting about, those grades are awesome, better than mine!
GCSEs: 2A* 2As 5Bs 2Cs (probably the worst in the department! :p: )
A-levels: 3As
LNAT: 17, as usual no idea about the essay

Extra curricular: trumpet, guitar, bass guitar, published & performed composer, football achievements and table tennis, lots of reading, travelling, and... computer games  Oh.. gap year working in a law firm? Is that extra-curricular? Well it probably helped.

GCSEs: 5A/5A*
A Levels: 3As and the obligitory AS with an A
Extra cirricular: No idea what I wrote now, nothing special that's for sure. I had done a week at an MC firm and did have a mini pupillage lined up though so it may have helped. Had lots of stuff about how my subjects related to law and how I love a challenge. I somewhat regret that since this final stretch is killing me!

Lol! That's unlikely to be true- my tutor for Public said we were quite a good year based on midsessional results!

The lack of tutorial preparation is getting pathetic though :p:

Not quite Mike, you seem to have forgotten what my grades are...

GCSEs: A*,A*, B, B, C, C and A

A - levels: 4 A's

LNAT: 13

Extra-Curricular: nothing special really, but my social and educational background are quite distinctive compared to most of my classmates...

Interview went really welll though (talked to professor who interviewed me at the start of term and he confirmed this)

By the way, one of my friends/classmates does not even have any GCSEs or A - levels but she is a mature student and has worked for several law firms in the past...
My GCSE results weren't particularly good...3 A*'s, 5 A's and 3 B's at GCSE, but 5 A's at AS Level and then 4 A's at A-Level. My GCSE grades weren't spectacular but I think my personal statement and LNAT score (17) played a big part. I got three interviews at Oxford and a place at LSE as well, so I don't think GCSE's count for all that much.

As regards extracurricular activities, I had a lot. Model UN, debating competition winner, attended law conferences, extra Latin lessons, gap year in Paris etc etc. all combining to make me look like an uber-geek. I talked about what aspects of law I was passionate about and I think that helped a lot. Oh, and legal work experience. Basically make out that law is your passion in life and that your gap year will be spent getting valid legal experience and not drinking, shopping, crawling home at 6am...

ElWilson, do you really need people to tell you how they got into all these universities? Could you not read the prospectuses and see what the universities want? Coz asking people their LNAT and extra-curricular stuff has no bearing on whether you are going to get in or not...

Does anyone think i could get into UCL law wit 3 a* 2 a's 3B's and a 2C's? \
If not is there anything i can do to change this?

Yeah, with a strong P.S and LNAT score.

of course everyone has a shot. Nobody understands why people get rejected from say Bristol and get into Oxford.
Ive posted min about a million times already.
5*s 2As 4Bs
5As
2As 2Bs
BAR mock trials, debating captain for form (never mind that this really meant that I was the main speaker for one interform debate that we ever had - and my form was full of scientists who thought a colon was an organ (crazy people! :p: ) not a punctuation mark, playing football for school, being part of Amnesty International school campaign (After a 15min talk about gunz and drugz you were consulted about what you thought could be done, to which you would either reply "Lets have a mufti day!" or look squeamish and keel over to the floor feigning injury) and wrote for the school newspaper.
And of course I really love watching the news and reading the Economist.
Not to mention watching porn.

Oh dear. What a shocking post.

The whole 'we gave AAB to people from poor schools' thing is pure PR. The reality is the people I know who did have AAB (post app) or went on to achieve AABB were from predominantly independent and grammar schools (i.e. the same as the course intake).
Yep. I went to a grammar school.

That was never my point.

What i was saying was that i read in the times UCL gave out, for entry into our year, 30 offers of AAB to students from bad performing schools throughout the counrty. ALL other offers were for AAA.
Im not saying that no one got AAB and wasnt accepted because that isnt true, Im saying that the ONLY AAB OFFERS were to certain students from certain schools.

So its not just "PR".. its actually a fact. Franky I wouldnt see any reason for the Times to lie.

I know a bunch of ppl who had an offer of AAA but got AAB and was still accepted, but obviously it doesnt mean everyone applying can relax and feel safe that even if they miss their off they will be accepted. Even though there are ppl in our yr with AAB and still got in having missed their offer req, I know that there were a LOT of ppl who also got AAB and were rejected.

If u still dont get what im saying, just PM me.

I'm gonna be at UCL for Law and French Law (maitrise)
Is anyone else doing law with french of german law? I'm really scared because they say that complete fluency is required and that A level is NOT enough! ahhhhh

on the brightside i've just got an offer from warwick:biggrin:

my predicted grades are AAA, in French, Chemistry and English Lit (yes i know it's a random mix)
