Fat loss...in certain areas

Hi.

This is kinda embarrasing, which is why I'm using anonymous.

I'm 6 foot tall and weigh just under 10 stone, male and nearly 18, so as you can tell, I'm not fat...

BUT all of my fat is stored in the 'man boob' area, which actually makes me look really fat and it looks ridiculous, it's so embarrasing. :frown: :frown: My stomach is as flat as anyones, but looks like I have a 36 DD bra.

I can never look good in any T-shirt and grr, it's just embarrasing.

I've been doing almost 2 hours walking per day every weekday for the last 6 months, and my diet is upto standard, eating 2300 calories per day. I've done my research on weight loss, but I just can't seem to loose my man boobs.

I told my parents that I'm trying to loose weight and they're concerned about me, saying I need to put weight on....it's a really hard situation.

Has anyone got any advice? Thanks for reading it all

Do you use weights in the gym? As they have weights designed for that area of the body.
Sounds like you need to tone.Try weights and not walking. Tone up instead of trying to lose.
6ft and just under 10 stone sounds under weight to me, but I ain't an expert.

Have you been to see your doctor about it? They may be able to suggest a certain diet for example or exercises.. Maybe if your weight only goes in that area then there may be a reason?

Yeah, that's the problem, I'm not overweight, but where the fat is stored is the worst place it could possibly be, and as I have such a low BF it doesnt want to shift

maybe its genetic
Sounds like it could be puppy fat. You may just have to wait on it and see what happens.

either you're not as slim as you'd like to think, or you have gynaecomastia. visit your doctor.
Could be an excess of oestrogen. *shrug* oestrogen is produced during puberty, which is why girls have boobs. :P I'd check it out with your doctor.

You can't spot reduce fat... the only way to do that is with liposuction. There is also no such thing as "toning." The only way to look toned is to build muscle and reduce the fat covering it.

The correct way is to start a weight lifting program and diet correctly.

Track your diet on www.fitday.com and start a weightlifting regime of heavy compound lifts (deadlift, pullups, dips, bench press and squats at least) aimed at building muscle mass.

At 10 stone and 6 foot you are extremely skinny. It also sounds like you have a high body fat percentage if you have manboobs. It's nothing unusal and I know a few people like you. It's possible but I doubt there is actually anything wrong with you other than genetics. I store fat on my lower abdomen and nowhere else: you just store it on your chest. If you reduce your body fat they WILL go away.

You've started off well by counting calories but you also need to measure WHAT you eat. If those 2300kcal are made up from sugary snacks then there's no wonder. Start adding protein and healthy fats (nuts, fish, olive oil etc) and add complex carbs.

If you're just starting out then you should be able to put on substantial muscle easily. Getting bigger all over will hide the manboobs and when you've put on at least 2 stone go on a diet to remove the fat and keep lifting to maintain the muscle.

Good luck

Sad truth is that it is probably genetic. It is the way YOUR body stores its fat. Men have a general abdominal and chest fat distribution. It just may be your body tends to store it in your chest area.

You could try seeing your doctor about it. Have some tests done to check certain hormone levels and their drives, however if that is your case you would be noticing other things going wrong at the same time...

I was about to say the same thing. It's a relatively well known condition, though it's not technically an illness or a disease. Its treatment isn't covered under the NHS either. Start saving boyo.
I think you may have a condition called gynecomastia, have a look through http://www.gynecomastia.org/ and perhaps see your GP.

if he has such a low weight and thinks he is slim in comparison it is probably not something that can be prevented by fat loss. weightlifting will not 'hide the manboobs', if anything it will make them protrude and look yet worse.

both spellings are accepted here in the UK. consult your doctor/gp firstly and see what he suggests. if they are really that big then you could consider cosmetic surgery and breast reduction which is widely available throughout the UK. It's not cheap and can cost up to £2,000 depending on where you have it done though, but it's something that really bothers you and can't be treated elsewhere, then go for it:yy: hope this helps!

i think you will find 'gynecomastia' isn't very widely accepted over here, whereas gynaecomastia is. its the correct british-english spelling.

pressups would do exactly the same as weightlifting, only less resistance.

There are a lot that of places that do. Either way it makes no difference as there are no pronounciation differences.

that's what i thought, but the people on the forums seemed to think differently.

No need to argue over the spellings

What are those weights called that you use when sat down and use your arms to pull them into your chest? I think people use them to tone there chest and biceps..so try some weight lifting at a gym?
