I have friends there- it's a very nice location, close to central London, but has a campus. I applied there too, because I thought it seemed very welcoming. Some of the accommodation is good- some not so (eg. Bede house!)

Its cool you get to join pretty much any subjects together (like History and Dance- thats just bizarre!)
I'm there. I'm doing psychology and counselling.
I live on campus and I'm having a great time. I normally go out into Central London for a night out and the only drawback is that it can take up to an hour by public transport to get to your destination. The surrounding area of Roehampton is pretty lame imo, but that's because I don't really like the clubs that are in Kingston etc.

I'm at Roehampton, studying Human Rights and Edcuation. All in all it's a good uni - totally frustrating in some respects, excellent in others. I also like the fact that I'm close enough to central London so that I can have a great night out, but also that I live right next to Richmond park if I want to get back to nature!

Well from the course that you are going to be studying you will have your lectures on the main campus where Digby Stuart, Froebel or Southlands College are based.
Whitelands College is a separate campus but it's literally just up the road (I'm in halls there) - you can live there too but you'll find that the majority of the people there study science based subjects (mainly psychology and sport science). I love Whitelands because as it's quite small you get to know most people and it's got a great community feeling that some of the other colleges haven't got. It's also got the nicest Student Union bar  The campus is only about 2 years old so the rooms are in great condition and are all en-suite.
I like Digby halls too as they seem to be livelier and have a better atmosphere than Froebel and Southlands and they have really nice modern kitchens.
Froebel has really beautiful grounds and is great in the summer and a lot of people sit outside by the river to socialise but the rooms are a lot older.
I don't really know Southlands as I've only gone there to sit exams but I've found that it seems to be the least popular choice for accommodation.

PM me if you want to know anything else
It looks like we should have enough people for our own sub-forum soon...

I'm a first year. Next year I won't be in halls, I'm going to be living in a house near the uni. Yeah, the people are really friendly in general. The best advice I can give you is to really make an effort during Fresher's week. Go to all or as many of the events that the student union plan. It's a great opportunity to make friends and get to know people. The highlight last year was probably the school disco night, it was great fun  The first night is really good too, everyone goes to one of the student union bars and you get to meet loads of people.

it is a lovely campus considering how near to london we are! and especially when the summer ball is on you realise how much green we have! hehe. which reminds me events such as the summer ball are the highlight of my time at roehampton, so thats something to look forward to. apart from meeting some great ppl and learning so much stuff of course!

The halls you can choose from depend (I think) on what college you've chosen to be affiliated to. You choose either Digby Stuart, Southlands, Froebel or Whitelands (I had to do this on my UCAS form), and then they will send you halls information for that college. You don't have to be affiliated to the college that teaches your subject - some people are, most, I would think, aren't.

Psychology is taught mainly at Whitelands, which is the college that is separate from the main campus - it's about a 5/10 minute walk away. Human Rights is mainly taught at Southlands, which is at the bottom end of Roehampton Lane - basically you've chosen two courses that are taught the furthest away from each other

Accomodation wise, Whitelands is probably the nicest - everyone who applies there gets an identical ensuite room, usually in a flat of about ten people. They were built two years ago and are still in fairly good condition. Most people who live on Whitelands are either Sports Science or Psychology students, because that's what mainly taight here. Digby is probably the next best, but you should be aware that there are only a few rooms that are modern and ensuite - if you get into Lee House then well done, but you could end up in Bede which is nice, but is traditional style 'halls' with lots of rooms sharing bathrooms and kitchens. Handy for the library though lol.

Southlands has fairly new accomodation. A very small number of the rooms have tiny ensuites, but most don't. They are generally in flats of about four or five, sharing kitchens etc. Froebel is generally seen as the campus for teaching/education. The rooms vary a lot here - there are some fairly new rooms (Aspen, Willow and Linden) and some not so new (Lawrence, Old Court, New Court). Internet access varies here too.

Finally there's Mount Clare - it's probably the cheapest of the Roehampton accomodation but it's a long way from the campus on an estate that has a bit of a reputation. It doesn't have (I don't think) internet access in the rooms either. Seems to be a bot of a love it or hate it place, from what I've heard.

Best thing to do is come to an open day and have a look round - lots of the rooms are open for you to see, so you can work out what's on offer and what you like best.
I applied there, but decided not to put it as my firm
