Holding your alcohol?

Hiya well theres an 18th in a week and im going. Anyways its a full day of drinking and theres a even happening which in all there are 19 pubs. --> you have to have a pint in each 1. Im obviously not going to get 19 pints down me but im wondering if you have any strategies which will help me:
a) hold my drink longer (i.e. not being sick)
b) staying sober for longer

I think this could be useful as noone wants to be sick if you get my drift any opinions are welcomed,
cheers

I can only share with you the fact that you are not alone. One bacardi breezer is enough for me to feel sick.
It's your liver's birthday too, doesn't it deserve a nice day?

Eat lots of bready stuff to absorb the alcohol and drink water in between each of your pints... Good Luck

lol, 19 pints is quite a lot. i can hold my drink pretty well but have never really had more than the equivalent of 10 in an evening. yeah, eat lots of bread and maybe lots of pasta before you start. and if you have a pint of water after each pint then that should keep you sober for longer. and pick a low alcohol lager if you get the choice, i wouldnt advise 19 pints of guiness!

eat a good meal before hand and drink stuff other than alcahol inbetween pints.

milk before hand.

What's the reason for that?

same reason they say not to take milk with certain types of medican. Milk clings to the stomach lining and stops certain things (like alcohol) being absorbed into the bloodstream as much.

Milk (as said above) or cheese is good. I think it's due to the way alcohol is processed, cheese cuts into how much alcohol gets processed, somehow (I'm no scientist but I remember hearing that somewhere).

More generally, practice makes perfect (although 19 pints is pushing it). As long as you don't zip from one pub to the other you should be fine, I've known people to drink a whole bottle of whisky over a long period and only get slightly drunk (yes, I know it's very unhealthy).

Drink milk and eat bread, they both help to absorb it!

Taking preventitive steps

- Begin by considering your height, weight and personal tolerance for alcohol when drinking.

- Drink a glass of milk to start the evening. It will lower the absorption of alcohol, and protect your stomach against irritations.

- Never drink on an empty stomach. Food helps to absorb some of the alcohol and aids the body in digesting it faster. Consider eating starchy foods to slow the alcohol absorption.

- Limit yourself to less than one drink per hour.

- Drink a glass of water between each beer you order.

Yeah, milk, and a biriyani before you start, basically go to an indian, eat loads then go on the crawl.

A decent pub crawl is a pint a pub which you're doing, you should make a map of the route your taking, to make it looks like its something out of hard dedication

Just keep munching on crisps all night and you'll be fine. Also have a meal before you go out (but don't have soup, does bugger all to help - needless to say, I found out the hard way...)

Right well this a drill:
Im 5ft 10 not a massive drinker
Its a competition - start at a place and get on the met. Each met stop you must get off, have a pint and get on met and get off next stop and so on.
Theres many people doing it and i would say i am one of the less tolerant of alcohol.
It starts at 12pm and finishes at 12 am so 12 hours. I would be happy to get passed 6/7 as ive never drank to the excess that i fall asleep and completely forget everything i did that day.
So a full english would that be good?
Also your only allowed 1 proper meal in the day and im not the rules on the other drinks allowed. I fi can im going to stick to boddingtons: as its not fizzy (apparently fizzy gets to your bloodstream quicker) and not a strong beer.
Is this some kind of moronic death wish?

For goodness's sake, get a backbone and drink something non-alcoholic periodically. You'll be in a gutter and deserve to be if you drink solidly for 12 hours.

boddies or caffries, its really easy to drink as wel....hard to explain but a lot nicer than some lagers.

Like i said, make a map with the pubs you'll be going to, then unless you complete the map or throw up before you've completed it, you suck ;P

Bloody hell mate, 12 hours? you'll be in hospital, restrict it to a certain number of pubs rather than timing it.
Sounds like a pretty dumb idea to me. Don't try and drink 19 pints, it will make you very sick & probably give you alcohol poisoning. Stick to your comfortable limit because consuming that much liquid (especially alcoholic) would make you throw up several times anyway!

As others have said...stay hydrated by drinking water as alcohol is dehydrating. Eat a meal and preferably some food or snacks along the way to slow the rate at which the booze is absorbing into your body. Very good idea to drink a big glass of milk before you set out too.

Remember to drink a huge glass or two of water at the end of the night too. It will help control the hangover!

I think 19 pints is too much just because of the fluid intake, are you allowed to have a shot or something?

I'vedone a 12 hour session before and was fine...very drunk, but didn't end up in hospital...although i'm 20 and have had more practise than the OP!
