I don't think so, you'll be better off seeing a doctor about it. I'd leave it a couple of days first though cos it's fun pulling all that stuff off before you can open your eyes in the morning

Will it clear up by itself? And how long does it take to go away?
Aww, cherry :frown:

I've had that before and its not nice at all! I went to the doctor and got eyedrops, and they cleared up after I had them!

Definately go to your doctor, and don't rub your eyes or wear any makeup or anything like that as it will just irritate them - you already knew that though

No it won't. Eye drops are the normal diagnosis prescribed by a GP.

In regards to the infection being cleared, depends on how long you've left it! A number of weeks thats' for sure.
I'm not sure if there are cases whereby people can be clear from it in a couple of weeks?

Aww crap,I hate the doctor.

Had it a couple of days...erm,I think it was Friday morning I woke up and my eye was stuck together(and I mildly panicked lol)...

It definitely feels like it needs eye drops of some form...but doctor=mean!Haha(last time I went I couldn't breathe and was having tingling pains everywhere and he told me to 'stop being so stupid and go home and go to sleep.')

Not been putting eye make up on after Friday-I ended up rubbing my eyes and getting the make up all in my eyes and that made it a zillion times worse!

Ouch, would definately try avoid anything around the eys, maybe just put a cold flannel or something if it starts to itch or feel sore!

Your doctor sounds mean!! If you really don't want to go to your own, you could try an NHS drop-in centre, or just go the a pharmacy/chemist and see if there is any over the counter stuff you could by, but this wouldn't be half as good as prescribed medicine!

give it a week or two max.

I was hoping people would say 'Oh a day or two.'

Damn.

There's an NHS walk in centre somewhere in York I think...I'll have to find out where it is and go.Actually I remember going there 3 or 4 years ago,the doctor was quite nice.

I wouldn't suggest using a flannel as this can harbour the infection, to the OP: you'd be better off using cotton wool pads/makeup remover pads as you can just dispose of them after use.

depends if its viral or bacterial...if its the latter then you can get antibiotic eyedrops but if its the former then there's not a lot you can do.

go to the docs..
Golden Eye Drops?

if its a long way to your doctor, you could see a pharmacist, they're able to help with minor problems!!

I'd go and get some eye-drops probably best though to get it through a doctpr. Just be careful that you dont rub you bad eye then touch your other eye because it is highly contagious. This may be why you eyes dont clear up quickly because you reinfect them, so wash your hands if you touch your eyes.
