My boyfriend and I split up on Saturday, and I haven't been eating since. I always thought I'd be a comfort food type of person, but it's the opposite. I feel hungry but it's more of a sick hungry and there's nothing I want to eat. Yesterday I had one Trebor softmint and half a bag of popcorn (i went to the cinema). Today I've eaten nothing, just a glass of lemonade, which made me feel sick. Is this just a phase or should I force myself to eat something - anything?
I'm usually the girl who reaches for a chocolate bar at the first sign of trouble but during a recent break up and bereavement I lost my appetite completely. I never felt hungry and didn't even think about food. My appetite came back eventually though, after a week or two. Don't stress and make sure you do eat...even if it's only a little.
When I broke up with my ex I didn't eat for weeks really, esp first few days, had to try and force myself to, but eventullly you will slowly get it back, saying that though I still havn't got the appetite I once had. It's normal don't worry just try to or focus on fruit juices, keep strength up
i hope you start feeling better soon. i do exactly the same when i'm stressed or unhappy - i go off food completely. it's really quite dangerous. the best thing to do is try and eat small healthy meals. if you can't even bring yourself to do this eat cereal/ energy bars so you will at least have some energy. pm me if you ever need to chat x gaia x
Lots of hugs and sympathy for you honey. I think it's natural not to want to eat. Try and have some fruit or some cereal, something light but healthy. Take vitamins so you are getting some nutrition and make sure you are still drinking plenty of water. It'll probably go away in a few days, it's the effects of shock that often make you not want to eat.
