How Good Is Qmul Law?

I've done another thread about this but no one put anything down. If anyone knows how good QMUL is in terms of employability to the big law firms lemme know! :wink:

Don't be mean.
The Law department is good. In the Times ranking is at number 19 for Law which is quite impressive. I have no idea how the employment with firms works so I cant help you there. I applied for Law and Politics so I'm also quite interested.

its got one of the best law dept in UK...top 8 actually...if u refer the prospectus, its says QM has 5* rating..(research,but useful)...

Well QMUL isnt an elite uni, no matter how much up the league tables they appear. I personally see QMUL as the BEST 'SECOND CLASS' university for law. After first class universities such as oxbridge ucl lse warwick (AAA unis) etc...QMUL is the next best thing.

I read an article in the student times that was published which was basically was about two asian girls from qmul trying to make it in a big city law firm...especially since they didnt go to one of the 'top' universities.

If you get a first from here, i think you will be able to compete with people from top class unis for jobs. Being part of UoL also helps, but I say anything less than 2.1 wont get you anywhere 'decent' in the law world.

QMUL has been on the rise in the last few years, (especially in the law department) I just hope 1st, 2nd and 3rd years carry on all their good work so we'll continue to rise and become recognised as an excellent institution for law. But for now, theres still work to do.

thats my opinion, i may be a bit mis-informed, any other views out there?

I think QMUL are. Alot of funding and new world class research groups have started and entered QMUL since RAE 2001. I read somewhere, the RAE 2008 will set UK universities prestigousness in stone for alot longer, although I can't really confirm that, so don't quote me on that.
