Depends how old. 17 and 13 is a lot worse than 27 and 31. It's all relative you see?

Someone I know is doing 18 and 14. That crosses the legal age line though which makes it look awfully paedophilic. But once you're older, it doesn't look bad.

would people consider a four year age difference in a relationship bad? what is the cut off point?

cheers for any replies
depends how old you are, l know an almost-17 yr old going out with a 14 yr old and we all call him 'kiddy fiddler'

nice guys we are
I think it depends how old you are, there are five years between my boyf and I but being 19 and 24 its not a big deal, between 16 and 20, imo that would be a little strange and 12 and 16 would scream cradlesnatcher. It really depends on your age and your boyfs age but if you guys are happy with the age gap then what other people think shouldn't bother you. It took some people a while to get to grips with a five year gap, but its cool now.

Males tend to die younger than females so that equalises things slightly too.

what about a 15/16 year old and a 18/19 year old ?

It could work

But the 15/16 year old will probably change while they are going out, so it would cause trouble.

So if you want anything serious go for someone your own age.

That doesn't sound too bad, I know a 17 year old girl going out with a 29 year old.

Well, the man tends to be older, (hence the phrase "toyboy" since a younger male in a relationship is more unusual) since males mature later, and youth in a woman's physique is more attractive for men (old woman = no reproduction in the evolutionary instinctual sense) and women instinctively prefer a larger physique in larger men - I don't believe a 4 year gap is that great as long as both are over 15-16 - I know a 16 year old who had a 31 year old boyfriend, that's when I would be worrying about age difference.

that 14 yr old wiyth a 17 yr old is dodgy. i think the difference should be about 2 yrs in your teens up to age 18 then age 18-21 anything up to 5 yrs is ok.
My friend is 17 and going out with a 25 year old...he looks even older than that though, and she looks younger than 17! They're really happy together, but people seeing them together must think he's her older brother or something, it just doesn't look right! Also, I have no idea what his parents think...him bringing home a 17 year old...hmmm.
As people have said, it's relative to the actual ages of the people involved, not the actual gap. Also maturity should be taken into consideration -
my bloke is 6 years older and we met when I was 17 (now 19), and sometimes he does sillier things than I do! Also, at our young age I suppose it's not so likely to last forever, so if there is more of an age & maturity gap, which (probably) comes along with differing life experiences, it creates another factor which may result in shorter lasting relationships. :frown:

Or, more accurately, a 15 year old and a 19 year old? Unless you (and your small child) have found some way to occupy two different ages simultaneously.

EDIT: Does it have anything to do with a Delorian? Because I've heard those things never work out...
i was 16 and my boyfriend 19 when we started going out. im now 19 and hes 22
