Law at Leeds!!

Hey,

basically, I was just wondering if there were any Leeds people on here studying law. I have been given a conditional offer and went to see the Uni today...really liked it....but didn't speak to any people actually studying law so if anyone could tell me what the course is like, how organised everything is, whether they'd reccommend it etc, I would be eternally grateful!!!

Thankyou!

I do Law at Leeds Uni - in my first year. I would say that the Dept. is very organised, the Lecturers and Prof.'s are really nice and approachable. You study Contract, Constiutional, Tort, English Legal Systems and Legal Skills in your first year (same as Durham I think). You have quite a lot of free time on your hands which you should use to do some studying ... *ahem* haven't quite got to that yet ....

Obv I don't have anywhere to compare it to, but it doesn't seem bad. Lots of self directed learning, more than at unis such as oxford i'm led to believe.
once you get into it, leeds seems pretty good.

I'm going on the 4th March, I missed the one on the 4th February due to bad weather..
I've already visited the university, but I think the specific subject days seem quite good, even if the number of hours it goes on for is less than it takes for me to get up there, let alone get back!

I was just wondering from Leeds law students whats going on with the law school building? and whats the present one like, it seemed tiny when i went there if i remember correctly.
Ive an unconditional offer to study law at leeds, and now am certain that it will be my firm. Am planning on applying to stay at devonshire hall. Does anyone know of any days etc from now that are on to visit the department, accomodation et al?

and congrats to everyone who has got a law offer
There's an accommodation viewing day on saturday 25th April that I'm going to. Apparently you just turn up and there will be directions on where to go.

in my moment of doubt and difficulty i'd like to ask, how lenient are they with missing a grade? i.e. Offer of AAA, in Aug I get AAB....

You would probs expect them to be pretty tough seeing as how many applicants per place they have. Best of luck anyhows, just about working to the best of your ability and you should reap the rewards in August, with the amount of applicants they have you would expect them to be able to pick people capable of aceheiving the grades, so one would presume that you are capable

I got in to do law with AAB although i wouldn't count on it. The vast majority get AAA, but there are a few who messed up one subject (mine was maths, by 2 damn ums points).

ALSO, ANYONE WHO WANTS TO BUY MY FIRST YEAR LAW BOOKS ***SOME BARELY USED***... well, most but that's my fault :P MESSAGE ME

I've used them all year, but they're seriously in the best condition you'll ever find books that aren't from a book shop. That isn't just selling technique, i'm just very lazy when it comes to uni work. I'll look at all the prices I paid and put it in a private message... Sure we can come up with a cheap price for you .

Sound good?
