This is from the website:

One of the houses at Talybont South provides the following Undergraduate ‘Plus’ facilities:

Each flat will contain a kettle, iron, toaster, crockery, cutlery and cooking utensils, colour television with licence paid
Each study bedroom will contain a duvet and two sets of bed linen

Any more opinions from Cardiff students on residences?

Yeah, Taly South is def the best imo. Ok, Court is much newer, and prettier, but you're paying a grand extra a year for something that is basically just the same as South, but just a bit shinier.

could anyone please tell me whether all the halls have internet connection? it says on the website that some don't.

I'm not a Cardiff Student yet, but it sounds as though this is tailored more towards international students who need items such as these because it would be hard to bring it on a plane from their home country.

Yeah I didn't think it sounded worth it for the £300 extra.

Anyone know if there's anywhere to keep a bike at Talybont South and Talybont Court?

Cheers

Both have bike sheds. You can get a key for a fiver for the year from the residence office once you are here. Otherwise, there are bike racks outside houses you can chain your bike up to- not as secure but loads of people do it.

Loads of places. South has lots of lockable bike sheds, Court has places for you to chain them up.

I read a review about talybont south and it was pretty positive and from what people have read on here it seems like talybont south is a safe option!

when i went to visit cardiff, talybont seemed to be quite a way from the main uni buildings. is this an inconvenience at all for people?

Not really. The walk gives you a chance to catch up with your friends, and wakes you up in the mornings!! Its only 15 mins or so. You can always take a bike, or if you are reeeeaaally lazy take the bus. But thats so not worth it.
If you want a residence right on the doorstep, try Aberdare Hall. Its right across the road from the Law building.

When you apply for accommodation, what sort of choice do you get? Do you put down names of halls in order of preference or just the type of room you'd like?
Thanks
Reply 14
Order of preference out of about 40 choices. (All the different accomodations then catered/self-catered, en-suite/shared, unergraduate plus or not...)

Dont be sure that if you put down a choice you will get it. Better to be safe than sorry and get your choices form back in quickly.... Dont wanna end up in Hodge Hall or something!
Has anyone got their accommodation forms yet? I still haven't received mines...
I think taly south seems like a good choice, does it have internet? anyone know?
