I've been told BTEC science closes quite a few doors, is there any truth in this ?

IN MY OPINION I SEEN OTHER UNIVERSITIES WHIC ACCEPT A BTEC ,HOWEVER IT DOES LIMIT YOUR OPERTNITIES AND WHAT YOU ACTUALLY REALLY WANT TO DO,SO STUDY AN A LEVEL, ITS PREFERABLE AND CAN GET YOU THROUGH TO SO MANY UNIVERSITIES, which allows you to go in to some amazing profesions.it all depends on what you are good at and enjoy doing work hard and keep on trying,i may have failed a few times but didn't stop me trying to get to something I really would love to do in hope of finding my dream career afterall its not about the journey its all about the destination

go search for unis who'll accept you otherwise it will be great if you could study ict and chemistry a levels or see if a pharmaceutical industry accepts apprenticeships
hi,i got a B in ISA&a D overall for my science GSCE. I'm worried that i wont be able to apply for applied science even though i have a huge passion for it. Please help me!:L
Hey

Don't worry! I did BTEC level 2 applied science and got a distinction* and then progressed to the level 3 qualification. i am going to be starting university next year hopefully after doing some research. Several uni's such as manchester met, leeds uni and lancaster accept BTECS. However you should consider ringing up universities you want to go to and ask whether the diploma you have got is suitable for the degree you want to apply to. if you want any more questions, message me.

I'm just about to finish BTEC level with a D*, and move onto level 3. My question is are there any university courses? I have an interest in science, which is apparent from my reading material. So are there if any courses which take these.

EDIT: If anyone could find any a link would be appreciated .

I did level 3 BTEC applied science with 2 D*

In sept Ill be starting university, studying zoology

There are a wide range of degrees that accept BTEC. I got D*DD, and I'm doing dietetics. Everyone from my class is now doing a range of things from astrophysics to other chemistry/biology related degrees. However, for some subjects like engineering for e.g, you would need an additional a level alongside the btec. For Medicine, you would need a levels they don't tend to accept btec; however there is one uni I found which accepts btec by itself. You just have to look around.

Aup! I've completed my first year of l3 and achieved D*D*. I'm considering doing either dietetics or biomed science at uni. I was wondering how do you find dietetics? What's your career plan?
if you done btec level 3 in applied sciences ca you go uni without doing a levels?

Yes! There's a thing called research. Depending on the uni u can do: any bioscience e.g biomedical science, dietetics, biochemistry etc. Also only two unis allow you to do optometry or pharmacy. U could also do psychology ,law so on

U just have to research! .

U can go into uni without doing a levels if you've done the extended diploma

I haven't actually started yet, start in a few weeks. But I cant wait, it's a good career path as there are loads of hospital placements throughout the years, giving me loads of experience so I can easily get a job as a dietician when I finish. Dietetics is really different to biomedical science, dieticians have loads of patient contact and advise them about food, and nutrition. Whereas, bio scientists diagnose and are laboratory based. xD

Yeah I'm confused. I love the dietetics course module and I know I'd get a job quickly however, they don't talk about health issues such as ibd & how it'll affect them.

Biomed seems very interesting but the job prospects ain't good. I just hope I can pull off the personal statement for both courses
