Driving Instructor recommendations in Newcastle upon Tyne?

Hi All,

Can anyone recommend a good, reasonably priced, driving instructor in Newcastle upon Tyne? Friendly, patient and not a boy racer??!

I've looked around a few websites and they all seem much of a muchness, so would prefer some personal recommendations!

I doubt I can name them, but I did see one local company offering 16h for £240, which seemed good.

Any recommendations would be really appreciated!

Thanks so much!

I'm currently learning with Gosforth School of Motoring. They aren't the cheapest around, but the instructor is knows his stuff and is very effective.

I can't comment on many others, but I do know my friend used Pass n' Go and they seem quite good, from what I've heard.
Hi Tuu,

Thanks for your reply! Out of interest, why did you first choose GSM? Recommended to you? Did you just ring around and pick the one? Not sure what to ask them really when I get in touch with whoever!

I see Pass n Go cars quite often. I think I always err away from the big chains, I've heard bad things about BSM etc. And I know it sounds totally silly but whenever their cars drive by they're normally really dirty!

Have you ever heard of SuperPass driving school? They do good deals - wonder if too good to be true!

Thanks!

I found them simply by scrolling through the Yellow Pages. I went with an established family run business assuming that they would have a more experienced driving instructor. However, like I said earlier, my friend went with a larger firm and he seemed to learn quick enough, so I guess the best advice would be to just look around and see what best suits you. And if you don't like your first lesson, you could always change to someone else.
