HELP! How do you use SUPERSCRIPT?

I have windows 98 and normal wordpad but I have no idea how to use superscript and I need to use it for my chemistry planning.......for example I can't write H20 or CO2, the numbers are meant to be smaller........can anyone help??!!

press ctrl + Shift and = together and it will switch to superscript then to switch back just press ctrl, shift and = again

Is it not subscript that you want though for doing that stuff?
