lips numb since using carmex

I suffer with really bad lips, I brought some 'carmex' was using for about a week, things were great. my lips really improved. then one day, I woke up and all my top lip was numb, with a sort of bump on the part of your lip just above your two front teeth. it's also started peeling off at this area, and have become a really dark (sore looking) red colour.
I have since stoped using carmex, after thinkig I could be having some sort of reaction with it. Now, I'm using nothing on my lips, and the prob is still happing. has anyone had this prob before? what would you suggest?

perhaps try blistex or some other healing lip balm. you are probably allergic to carmex.

sounds like a coldsore to me. try some zovirax, and if that doesn't work, stop using the carmex and go back to vaseline. but to be honest if you've been using it for two weeks and you've been fine, i doubt it'll be related x
Maybe you bit or grazed your lip in your sleep? Perhaps you bumped it into something like a bedside table? If you were allergic to Carmex then you'd expect the reaction to have come sooner...

Another possibility: have you changed toothpastes/mouthwash/floss recently? The skin on your lips could be allergic to any new formulae.

If you've had your teeth whitened recently that could also explain a lot!

Make sure you drink lots and lots of water, no matter how much it hurts

do u study science if you at school/college/uni? if u do have u used hydro chloric acid atall, as i had a problem exactly like yours and i went to the doctors and found out it was the hydrochloric acid we had been using in science that had caused it! so i was never allowed in a room when they had been using the h/acid or had used within the past 2 hours!
