I didn't mean you, its fine asking what people wanna do, just dont like the questioning and that

Oh okay then, I do agree. Obviously our choices are based on interests and experiences :s-smilie: We haven't had experience of medical school so I don't know how we are meant to take that into account

Haha no worries - its just we all start to discuss it then the medical students come on and complain about how naive we are discussing it, when we don't even have places at medical school - which is a fair point! The conversation moves on and then it starts all over again. :P

If you have an idea of what area you want to specialise in it seems better to hide it on TSR, to prevent the older members criticising you :P

(Giant generalisation there but you get the jist...)

Okay then thank you haha, I shall never speak of it again

they are absolutely right though, I don't blame them...

I completely agree - as you can seen I edited my previous post to say that it's a very fair point to make!

None its non-stop revision for me in Easter :P

I hear you girlfriend! I wouldn't be able to throw in any work.exp i'd have been too stressed about the up and coming exams! Can't believe they're so soon...

Guys, is immunology dull? I'm thinking of applying for work experience in there, but i hope it's not all lab based yano?
Moreover, do any of you lot know what the conditions are of your study leave? Last christmas, we only got the session (morning/afternoon) before our exam off - i hope thats not the same case this summer.

Work experience is just too tiring - couldn't do that and revising - plus I haven't had a work experience free holiday in almost a year :P

It would be interesting to do a lab based w/e to compare it to a ward based one etc. I'm sure it wouldn't be all lab based - why not apply and ask to see a draft timetable?

In the summer we always get the whole time off - we finish a week before exams start and we get a week to just revise which is great

Ahh, have you got a lot of exams? How much are you planning to revise every day?

Original post by Gcayte
Got 2 days with a cardiologist, a day with a renal consultant and a day with a radiologist
What about you?

Wow, sounds fun! I have a week at a GP surgery and a day with a practice nurse, so perhaps not as interesting! :P

Um.. 2 bio, 2 chem, 2 maths, 2 geography, 2 general studies and 1 A2 critical thinking.

Well it will completely depend on the day to be honest - from 1 hour to 6 hours+ ....

Thank you  Do you guys have any ideas what you would specialize in, if you became doctors?

At the moment I'm generally quite interested in Obs and Gynae, but obviously my mind may change a lot in medical school so it's best to go in with an open mind

Call every GP in your town/local area if they all won't let you then there isn't much you can do really.

GP experience isn't essential.

Many GP surgeries I spoke to would let me shadow nurse practitioners but not GPs - see if any of them would let you do that?

It depends on what your school decides; our study leave is from the 4th May so we get a week off school before our exams.
