What kind of placement would you wanna do? I'm from that area and in terms of placements I've found it difficult. What I would focus on is simple voluntary work that is near to your field (e.g. if you wanted experience working with kids, you could volunteer at a school for autistic kids or something). Or, you could do what I'm doing and do shortcourses in the area you're interested in. Manchester Community College I'm sure will do some into Psychology areas, and if not maybe try something a bit further afield like at Bolton or Salford. They do short courses.

Hope that helps a lil and good luck, its hard to find an official placement thats actually rooted in psychology.

Oh I'd also maybe suggest emailing Manc uni or Manc Met asking if they've got anything like longitudinal studies or research and placements you could be involved in perhaps?

Hey Nick,

Thanks for your response. I'm doing my BSc Psychology at Aston and am gonna be on placement next year. I was looking for something clinical, perhaps something like an assistant psychologist..I know these positions are highly competitive but I guess I gotta keep trying..

I;ve been looking at some Voluntary organisation's in Manchester but nothing tickles my pickle yet.

Has anyone else been on a psy placement in manchester and can recommend it?

btw for assistant psychology positions, I think they advertise them in The Guardian one day a week (I think either Tues or Fri, can't remember)
