one year date

I could use some advice.. it's my one year anniversary on Monday, and I'm trying to work out what to do. Thing is I just did the really nice restaurant/present thing for valentine's, and much as I would like to do it again, I'm a bit skint. I was thinking we could go back to where we had our first date, which is an ok thai place, but is that special enough for a one year's?

Good point.

And I did actually take her paintballing already for her birthday as a surprise! (Seriously)

Try something really amazing, like afternoon tea at the Ritz in London - truly a once in a lifetime experience! It's £32 per head...

Alternatively, tickets to the theatre/a musical always goes down well... Maybe go to see your fave band playing live?

Ooooh - a good idea - a spa day! You can get 'couples' packages at spas up and down the country that do things like massages in the same room for couples, and facials, manicures, pedicures [all men need their feet sorted out!]. She will adore that, all women love being pampered!

Disneyland Paris is always a fun day/weekend too...

Hope this helps!

Wow, that sounds so fun! I'd love to have a boyfriend to take me to places like that, first off, need a boyfriend!

You could try cooking her a meal? Light loads and loads of candles, and put rose petals around the bed  Really romantic...

What about a picnic somewhere? Although its not warm, could be really nice to snuggle up together under a blanket.

It is still possible to earn/borrow money y'know... If his parents really like his girlfriend then they won't mind paying a little bit towards the anniversary as long as he pays them back at a later date.

I was just giving some suggestions... :p:

it was mine and my boyfriend 1 year yesterday, we just stayed in and watched a film. but it was nice because we went all out the day before on valentines and im 60 miles away at uni, so it was nice to just stay in at my uni flat and cuddle and mess about. Plus he cooked tea which is a real change!

It doesn't have to be soomething out of this world I think a more quiet thing might be nicer just put some nice music on if you have a fire light it and move the couch near it, have some hot chocolate and just lie in each others arms talking whilst gazing in each others eyes.

To me, a first year anniversary should be a special, together time. If money was no object, I'd probably go for a weekend away somewhere, but if it is, why not just do a romantic thing at home:

Invite her over, set up a table with candles, etc. cook for her (have a rose sitting at her place before you start for added "awwww" factor). Make sure you have wine or something nice to drink, but obviously don't get her drunk. After dinner lead her upstairs and do a romantic pampering thing - think massage, or baths with candles, scents, etc. Then lead her into the bedroom and make sure you pamper her in other ways...

All it costs is whatever you cook/drink, and it seems a lot more romantic to me than throwing money at it and taking her somewhere expensive to impress her. It makes the focus on the two of you, not on where you are, and means she'll remember it not as "the night he took me somewhere really nice", but as "the night he was really nice".

*mibble* I want to do nice things now!

I always start giggling if I stare into someone's eyes. It just seems silly.

And that sounds very boring to me...

I am definitely coming round to the 'staying in' option.. so I guess as a follow up question - any ideas on a good dish to cook? I'm no Jamie Oliver, but could follow a cookbook ok I guess!

Most things with pasta are easy and can look quite fancy you know.

we went to the cinema in the daytime, which for some reason feels like a date to me, and then we sat in the same spot we did the year before and relived the moment. Was lovely. Do something that means something like that did to us
