What is the systematic method for naming ketones? :confused:

More specifically, CH3COCH2I(aq).
So far I've come up with Propan-1-one iodide and 1-Iodo(?) proanone. but I'm sure they're not even near right!

I think iodopropanone would be right.

I originally thought 1-iodopropan-2-one, but no other isomers of propanone are possible, and in that case no other isomers of (single) iodopropanone are possible, so no numbers required.

Ach, I was nearly there, except getting C number wrong...
I don't think I've used 'iodo' before...complete guess that that's what it'd be called.

Hope you noticed my edit btw, I changed my mind. Sorry about that.

Although the first one (the one you quoted) is correct, it's not the simplest version, as I realised after I posted. So although correct, they might be looking for the simplified version, but I doubt it matters TBH.
