Yea so im in the process of choosing the right college at Cambridge. I was looking at Girton and it is famous for being far away from the city. How far away from the city is it? To be honest, i cant be bothered to ride a bike to the city everyday to have a drink with some mates. Surely there is good communication between the college and the city e.g. bus?

miles I believe. Don't know about buses and stuff, I'm afraid.

Yes it's miles out of Cambridge. I think most friends say it takes 15-20 minutes to get to the town centre. You can get to the town centre in 5-7 minute from Churchill

Every year at the Union they make the joke: 'Welcome everyone to the Union, and if you're from Girton, then welcome to Cambridge!'.

You definitely would need a bike to go from Girton unless you want to spend an hour and a half each day just getting to lectures.

A substantial number of people fear using bikes but there's little to fear. Admittedly the road you have to go down and up to get into town from Girton is quite busy and also quite steep. But you could take a detour via Churchill's route into town which is mainly cycle paths.

Avoid the bus at all costs............the seats are wooden and they run very irregularly. The wost thing is that is costs like £1.70 to go the shortest distance. If u apply to girton, be prepared to cycle.
