What Is Love????

When I was with my recent ex boyfriend he said he was in love with me, and our relationship was good although now he says he’s over me and he doesn’t love me anymore. This made me think that in my view of love he didn’t love me, but in his he did. HOW WOULD YOU DESCRIBE LOVE?

I think real love is something you can never get over, loving someone is not being able to live without them, once you love someone you will always love them although maybe you won’t be IN love with them. Love is more powerful than anything else in the world, and once u’ve been in love it’s so strong that it will change you forever.

I don’t think you can define a feeling this is the nearest I could get.

This prob sounds so stupid but i just wonderd wot other people thought love was. x x

Love is giving someone the power to destroy you and trusting them not to use it.

Love is losing your sense of reason.

there's already a thread about this,by i think that apart from all the splendid things people have already said about love  it's caring about someone and liking every little minute detail about them, the way they smile, laugh, think anything...how those little things can look so beautiful to you while everything thinks it's normal or stupid
not sure i understand the difference between loving and being in love which so many people tallk about but id say when you love someone you'd do anything for them-give up your hobbies, give up your job, move house etc etc
but if they love you back they'll make sacrifices and meet you half way kind of thing,
but don't ask me i'm no expert on these things

I think it's when you can't imagine your life without the other person- as in, there would be NO life without them.....
"Could it be that this complex dazzzzling transformative feeling is just an illusión? Could it be just a trick, a trick played on us by nature just to make us ****? We imagine that love is meaningful. But could it in fact be meaningless?"

Love is stumbling over the pavement because your mind is elsewhere. Is failing in your exams because you skived lessons/lectures to spend time with your loved one. Is expensive. Involves moderate amounts of take-away menus and Blockbuster rentals. Is exciting. Leaves you feeling like a stale piece of bread sat on by a cow when it's all over. Can only be described ny yourself and not anyone else.

Every time someone starts a thread with this title, there's always someone to bring back Haddaway. Loads of the younguns are probably wondering what you're on about

y'all are all on about infatuation. love is a choice, it's actively choosing to honour, respect and trust a person even if you aren't so distracted by their beauty as to stumble over the pavement of whatever.

all those things are nice, and definately associated with the initial stages of love, but they are merely by-products of love; they aren't love itself.

furthermore, love, to me, is not 'not being able to live without the person'...it's being WILLING to live without the person, even if it was the hardest thing in the world, if that's what's best for them.

I agree with that 100%. If you truly love someone you will never stop. It may not be as "intense" but you will still love them. It may not even be in the same way but its still there

G4ry

Love is giving someone the power to destroy you and trusting them not to use it.

Also true. I believe that love is based of off Trust, and hence that statement is true

[EDIT] I would like to add, that love has no definition and how everyone pictures it is different. We can see that just from this thread. Love is also ever evolving... people at 11 may not actually be in "love" as we define it and as they are older they may see that
