Word of advice, do the prelim reading, it does help.. ull get the list later.

Also ull be doing a module called World Legal Orders, which im actually doing an essay on now.. and just to warn u.. its a complete joke.
Its like taking history.. which would be fine except that im taking a law degree.

Also if u ever meet someone called Riz Mokal.. he is the greatest lecturer u will ever meet, do not mess with him. he has been known to make ppl cry. seriously. in fact.. bow

Also erm dont do what i do and skip lectures.. nor tutorials.. im on thin ice.
But just to let u guys and girls know.. so long as u do the reading, thats really all that counts.

And please, please please realise thats there are many clever ppl out there who may be in other uni's better and worse than UCL so please do not adopt a superiority complex as the majority of this yrs freshers seem to have done. Ur not better than the rest for getting to UCL, ur no more cleverer for doing law than a language student at SESS across the road from Bentham house.. so bear that in mind when u speak to ppl.
I have found (im really picky at choosing friends whom i trust) that nearly all of my best friends are from halls and do a variety of courses, which is nice as i dont have to talk about law 24/7.

Also dont hate Kings, i heard someone actually took the rivalry too seriously and actually spat on a kings lawyer.. all i can say is that even if i had wanted to since they are lucky sods who have open book exams in 2nd and 3rd yr, there are times in life where u cant always do what u want!

seriously though, forget the london rivalry.. ull meet great friends from all over which makes london so special.

wings, who are you? my name makes me pretty self-explanotory!!

Well i'll be at UCL for law next year, albeit in 2nd Year. And yes Riz Mokal is pretty good, though I think Dawn Oliver is abetter lecturer and Jacqueline Dyson a better tutor... just an opinion.

Yes 8th March, looking forward to it not only because it's probably going to be my firm but it will also mean my mock exams are over.
Unfortunately I am absolutely hopeless at such threads, but i definitely think it's worth doing, and will probably be especially appreciated just before Freshers.

I got mine a few days ago. Got my offer on the 4th of February. It has the stuff about the open day, accommodation application and just general stuff about finances in London. Nothing terribly important as of the moment (don't have to do accommodation application for a few months) except from replying to Open Day confirmation.

We better be getting something similar...but I was wondering about Freshers Fortnight. Would we have to go to UCL 2 weeks before term starts?

I agree...Clarke is also good. Riz isnt as scary as everyone made out!

I'd try and come to UCL with a clearer mind; it seemed to me everyone had decided they hated WLO before they even entered the first lecture! At the end of the day it isnt that hard to do well in- and it counts just as much as your other subjects!

You'll all have such a brilliant time- the first year is fairly relaxed, and lawyers do not have to work nearly as hard as it is often stated. You just need to be efficient.
Since law threads seem to be taking over the UCL forum, rather than starting a new thread, I thought i'd ask in this one, who's going to the law open day next Wednesday?
