I think a scratch and polish which removes plaque is only about 20 quid or something, probably free if ure a student, as for professional whitening, I believe that costs in the region of a grand

A grand...woah. Ok, cheers

I know this seems obvious but have you tried things like whitening strips? A lot of my friends swear by them for making their teeth look whiter. A plaque clean at the dentists might help you look a little whiter. Plus they know what they are doing so they won't scrape enamel off your teeth!

You can get it cheaper than a grand, my dentist chargres about £400 for the course. Whitening only works on teeth that are discoloured/stained not on teeth that are yellowed from enamel loss (due to medication). I have heard a few horror stories about chemical burns on gums etc but so long as it's a qualified dentist who you have some degree of trust in then you've done all you can to avoid problems

There are some over the counter things which some people have had success with, and there's a product called Whitestrips that's available in America (or on Ebay) that are supposed to be v.good.

I'm getting my front teeth capped on Wednesday and hopefully should be free because the dentist said it is for 'non-cosmetic' reasons. It might be worth trying the teeth whitening packs from somewhere like boots beforehand instead of paying £400 on a dentist!

what does 'capped' mean?

Sticking a fake bit of tooth on your real teeth - usually to even up the size I think as opposed to whitening them?!

Veneers are another option but v. expensive (they stick covers on the front of your teeth that are white and lovely) and I've heard they chip easily.

I heard some of the teeth whitening stuff just makes your gums pinker-so your teeth look whiter in comparison.

I've tried all the whitening stuff...like Pearl Drops etc. I think they don't work 'cause my teeth are naturally yellow

Hm, I doubt white strips will work. My best bet is paying £400 at the dentists :hmmm:

I cant imagine u need ur teeth whitened in a drastic way. a simple whitening job from ur local dentist should do wonders.
