LSE conditional offer

YEEEHHAAA!!!

received a conditional from LSE for MSc Accounting & Finance...

one condition is that I score a 1.5 (German grading system) on my bachelors degree. my current average is 1.9 and I only get two more grades (one for my thesis and one for my oral thesis defence), which means I have to score sky-high :frown:

Somewhere on the LSE homepage it says that they might take you even if you don't fulfill all the conditions. Anyone know anything about this, cuz it might be a really close one for me (I am sure that I can improve my 1.9 grade, but I don't know, whether I'll be able to make the 1.5 average condition).

any comment appreciated:yy:

Ouch! Thats quite a bad conditional offer. Perhaps you can give them a call and let them know that it might be very difficult to achieve and ask them to reconsider?

hi well done...
MSc accounting and finance is my second choice but i dont have a gmat score yet.... what was your gmat score? and what is the equivalent of 1.5 in GPA terms?
If your average is 1.9 now, then what's the problem?

I think it's safe to assume from his posts that a LOWER score is better in the German grading system.

You are correct kizer!
The German grading system looks something like this:
% grade
100% 1,0 A
93% 1,3 A-
89% 1,7 B+
84% 2,0 B
79% 2,3 B-
74% 2,7 C+
69% 3,0 C
64% 3,3 C-
57% 3,7 D+
50% 4,0 D
<50% 5,0 NC no credit

Harvey,

good idea! Maybe I'll ask them to reconsider...don't know yet - need to sleep over it a couple of times.

Does anyone know someone who didn't meet their conditions/had their conditions reconsidered? What happened to their application?

I just got my offer. I cant believe it actually.

"Degree with upper second class honours
You are required to obtain your Bachelor's degree with upper second class honours."

Not sure why they gave me this when my 2nd year average was 78% (meaning as long as I keep this years average over 58% im fine), but I am thankful that no amount of luck will stop me now

Now where can I get some damn scholarships? (as I havent been offered a merit award)

Zerocool check the LSE forum. There are people who didnt meet their grade in one subject by less than 1 percent and LSE wouldnt reconsider - hence I would either approach them now or make sure to get that 1.5! If you tell them at this point it might be possible that they can still change the decision - if you go to them after your exams I think you wont stand a chance. Good luck.

Hi Zerocool

What is your GMAT score? and what is the main subject of your bachelor's degree?

i know that lse is very strict with the conditions of their offers you better try to negotiate now...

believe me buddy...I'm trying!!! But it's gonna be DAMN HARD (almost impossible, but only "almost")!!

I only have two more opportunities to work towards the 1.5.

Handed in my thesis last week - so, now it's up to my Prof.:adore: on this one

All I can do now is pray and give an excellent performance at my thesis defence:star:

That's one of the toughest conditional offer I've heard.
Getting from 1.9 to 1.5 isn't easy at all. I wouldn't want to be in that situation.
The MSc Acct & Fin is a very established programme.
Good luck zerocool. :yy:

Yeh well dont they just offer anyone from Germany a place on the basis of getting 1.5? They dont make it up for each person do they? So, if you're from Germany you get an offer of 1.5. Has anybody got an offer from LSE of higher than 1.5 for a german degree? And does anybody know what they want for US degrees?

Yes, they do make it for each person. They look at your whole profile (PS & rec. letters) and make an offer accordingly.
