set loads of alarm clocks around the room and outside it to go off at the same time.

As soon as you wake up jump out of bed.
Works for me. If i piss around then I cant get up.

Why did you post this as anon?

Going to bed earlier may not help, some people feel more tired like that.

There are some good alarm clocks which let you set times, so it goes of every 5 minutes after the set time. These are good to make sure you get up before 7am!

Plus, don't get up straight away, wake up first, allow 10 minutes in bed and then get out of bed.

Rig up a electric shock device to yourself to go off at 6.25, place the "off" button at the far end of the room... you'll be awake, and chances are you don't even need to go for the run!

It's good that you're going for a run in the morning, it's a nice way to start the day and it will certainly wake you up!

Going to bed earlier is a good start, and making sure you have an effective alarm clock. By this I mean something with a snooze function, not one which will just go off onece, you'll turn it off and go straight back to sleep. It also helps I find if you have more than one alarm clock- I use your bog standard Argos one and my stereo. If you do wake up to the radio, go for a station without that much talking, because I find that talking sends me straight back to sleep.

If you find it hard to sleep since you're going to bed earlier, you could try having a bath before you go to bed, which makes some people tired, you could have a hot drink, or you could do some mild exercise like sit-ups.

If you try waking up and you really do feel terrible, I say try it gradually. You don't have to launch straight into getting up at 6:25, unless you're trying to get fit for a deadline and you need to start running as soon as possible. Each day try to get up five minutes earlier, and see how you feel.

Anyway, good luck and hope the running goes well for you.

Rig up an alarm clock to spray water on you. Like Mr. Bean

Drink loads of water the night before, so when you get up you'll be really needing the toilet, and therefore will run to the toilet

I find that helps when I need to get up early the next day. Set your alarm clock and put it across the other side of the room too, that should make you get up.

Damn I have to be up by 6.30 tomorrow.

I find that I have to get up the second the alarm goes off, otherwise I can start to drift back to sleep again. If you like a 5 min lie in then make sure to set 2 alarms so you don't doze off! Splash a bit of cold water on your face to help switch on your brain, grab a coffee if that's your thing and get ready to go nice and briskly. If you don't have time to think about being tired and just get going then you'll be out the door before you have time to think about how early it is!

I say to myself before i go to sleep that im going to get up at 7, i get up at around half past 8, i just cant physically bring myself to do it.

I set off two alarms... I am meant to get up at 6.30am but I tend to lie in until 7-7.20am lol. So then I set an alarm for 6am, have a 30 hour lie in and get up normal time lol. And plus I have one of those clocks where you can see the time on the ceiling so I wake up every five minutes checking the time anyway haha.
And yea, a glass of water before bed should do the trick. Provided you don't have a weak bladder.

I seem to turn off my alarm clock while still mostly asleep, even if I have to get up, and then go back to bed. It's really annoying, alarm clocks aren't actually fully waking me anymore. I think I might have to try the Mr. Bean way!

Exactly same with me.

If I really have to treat myself badly and have to wake up way earlier than I should, I will set a few alarms on, and one of the clock will have been put inside the suitcase. lol

Some people can do stuff when they are asleap. I know cos I sometimes do sleep activities. Nothing interesting or dramatic though, but I have learnt to make notes in lectures whilst near asleep

I just move my alarm clock around all the time!

Oh, and if you want a REALLY good way to wake up in the morning, tie a piece of thin string around your ear and connect to an extension on the end of a hammer of an alarm clock!! Hey, I get bored easily :p:

i find it hard to go on a run when i'm half asleep, especially before breakfast. i did it the other day and threw up after about a mile, but i was pushing myself quite hard.

but yeh, getting up is harder than the running itself. you could try going for a run at night time? not too late otherwise you won't be able to get to sleep easily.

Is running before breakfast a good idea? Or after breakfast better?

Try an alarm.
