How frustrating. You can't beat a good heated discussion on a board like this, but every one that starts gets shoved down the board by people posting things that really could be kept to MSN conversations....

Look, I know that you will probably say that the government should spend more time and money on combating terrorism but at the moment, the constant threat that we face in Britain today, isn't the possibility of a terrorist attack but being victims of anti-social behaviour. If I had God-like powers or something, I would just shoot dead all of those who act anti-socially because I just can't stand it.

Yes. But I think that it is both terrorism and anti-social beaviour that are the major threats to our society. To solve the probl;em I would line up all terrorists and shoot them and force anti-socialites into hard labour camps (if they do not comply in even the slightest way then they would be shot).

People now laugh at teens who use the "there's nothing to do around here" excuse.

There is a big council estate in Cambridge that must have hundreds of 8-19 year olds. There is ONE measly climbing frame for the whole estate and there are signs everywhere saying "no ball games". I don't feel scared walking around there (if anything they are just mouthy - like today a group of them were messing around as I walked past and this 15-year old boy was in a girl's coat [thinking he was flirting or being cool perhaps?] and he started "performing" around me. I just shot him a disdainful look [I have them down to a tee] and he completely backed down. Or the other day some townie girls said "hehe like your shoes" [they are red dolly shoes] and another disdainful look went in theri direction and they shut up straight away.) (wow, big brackets - I'm becoming Virginia Woolf).

There are groups of them hanging around because they'd been kicked out of the house, or they don't get on with their parents or there's nothing to do in the house either and so they have nowhere else to go. It's not generally a culture where homework is prized, or where loving relationships are built between families and a sense of duty/responsibility is built up. These emotionally and educationally stunted people are given little hope or encouragement and they just become the next cycle of 19/20 year olds having babies and hating the babies for their own faults... etc... etc.

I saw a group of 8 year olds playing and there were two toddlers with them (obviously had been sent out of the house) and they LOST one of the toddlers. One girl shouted "keep hold of the other one, I've lost Joanna". They have their childhoods taken away and want to have a happy family relationship (doesn't everyone?) so they go out and get pregnant young - whether by mistake or not - in order to create what they think will be an environment where they can be loved. They are then disappointed by all the crap and everything gets worse and worse.

I know a lot of this sounds like mumbo-jumbo, but it's what I have experienced from visiting and living on council estates. I have no solutions, but identifying the problem is surely the first step?

EDIT: some peopel have infered that the 8-year-olds are the parents of teh toddlers. i thought it would be obvious that I meant siblings!

A-S behaviour depends on the society. At our school some people are real b-h's to us, but then moan about us being anti-social by not speaking to them.

What pregnant at 8 years old? I doubt it. How do you know the toddlers weren't their siblings?

Its all fine as long as they don't stop the Manchester party!!!

I say put prices up in places like Yates where the scallies tend to go. But all the places I go I've never seen any trouble so it will be a shame if the likes of Piccadilly 21's will effect the good clubs like 5th ave where trouble is rare. (I am talking Manchester here)

I do like my drinking however I never drink stupid amounts where I am anti social or anything. If people drink when they have not go work the next day then I don't really see what the problem is. Its just a minoirty of 10% scallies that caurse the problems.

Especially with the jumping-to-conclusions. So many people here read things with their own ends in mind.

Actualy it was the strange moral position jumping I was looking for. Anyone who can't change their own views to score points against another is in trouble in this hellhole

Mind you, there are fine lines between insanity, genius and just talking crap.
Good morning.

I'll stop now. And go to bed I think. That last bit came to easily for my liking.
