for foundation most unis do require an interview, however have you already attended the degree course interviews, if so sometimes if they reject you they can advice or even offer you onto the foundation course if they feel your not ready... i suppose its different with all unis

The foundation for art and design deadline was the 31st January however depending on the unis they do still consider your application ( a few unis i looked at said that they can still consider you) so its worth a try, you may as well if you have applied to degree to, maybe you could go for degree interviews and then just see what happens with your foundation application.

I already have offers from universities without interviews actually. I want to do foundation as a back up, just incase i can't get into my degree and i want to explore other design apart from graphics.
Will they accept me without interview just wondering:confused: Cos i feel that i don't have time to prepare my portfolio eek:/ i know
But the thing is i dont want to go to art college to do foundation course, so any universities which does art and design foundation course anyone?

yeah theres loadz of universities that do art and foundation courses go to the UCAS sites theres a huge list

and yes im sure you can get onto it if you have offers already from degree courses, i say go for it, you have a great chance if you know you already have offers from degree courses

and i wouldent worry about the interviews however i know all foundation courses require evidence of work and enthauism for a design related subject, do you have samples of work you have done either at home or school? i think its worth applying defintley. Maybe some people here can advise you on Unis for art and design foundation.

i think what alot of places will do will put you right at the bottom of the interviewing list. they give out their places as they go along, so if there are no places by the time they get to your interview, you wont get one unless you're exceptional. no harm in calling around your local art schools though

also i guess it depends on where you're applying, but so far i've never heard of a foundation course NOT looking at your portfolio (but i live near all the london ones). the entrance isn't based on your academics at all...

How did you manage to get offers for graphics without an interview?! where at?

Majority of uni's offer an art foundation. Have you looked around any you applied to for graphics? If they do art degrees they probably do foundation. check they do on their websites, then email them and explain your situation. If you've already been offered places, they might just accept you onto the foundation, or you could pop along for an interview. If you'd been having interviews for graphics, you'd already have your portfolio done..I'm surprised you didnt have any. a teacher at school should be able to help you put it together.

Just wondering do foudation courses shows up on the clearing list? Or do i have to phone the institution up on the results day in if i messed up my grades or for the last minuite chance to do a foundation course

i dont think they do. they count as college courses so they're done differently, and the majority are paper based entry forms, not UCAS (well as i said, the london art schools are). the places are first come first serve effectively [for those who get offers], but then again i know plenty of people who have accepted as they've gone along but have interviews other places

what did you mean by this

well with places like rave you have to accept within 10 days, or your place will be offered to someone else. but the gaps for some of my friends between that date, and their CSM and chelsea interviews were over a month [my camberwell interview was meant to be 15 days after rave also]. so they accepted their rave place, and then got into whatever other course, which they've also accepted, so now they have to choose, and call up one to decline

^faults in a seperate paper based system i guess^

I doubt foundations would go through clearing since they're not through ucas.

Waiting til you get your results in august shouldnt be necessary..

Find some local places, find their websites, give them a call or email, and see what happens.

Someone had an tiny interview in a graphics room once the course had already started..so that was september.. so they do take people late! So this isnt late at all, you've only just missed the app. deadline.

As for not having time to prepare a portfolio....I got into Camberwell College of art without my portfolio. I suggest you phone about places that you are intertested in and have a word with them. Im sure they will see that you are a determind student as you have got on to a degree course and are still wanting to explore lots of different media!
